I think we are talking about the "modern" wave, the saucers and discs of this
century, differ in some ways from older craft observed in the past. I think
the hypothesis is a good one to explain the REAL, nuts and bolts things that
fly in the sky of the late 20th century. Additionally one must state that
Renato Vesco in his work on German UFO's of the second world war stated that
much of that information went to the British! And that they had facilities
in Canada to develop the tech, and that is why some of the earliest sightings
of UFO's (modern ones, after W.W.II) were in the Pacific northwest (Maury
Island, and Kenneth Arnold in the mountains of Washington State are a couple
of examples). Yes, there were UFO's throughout history but there is a
distinction IMO between those and what we have today, at least partly. The
phenomenon which created UFO's in the past probably still accounts for some
activity today as well, but we have other things in the sky as well. The
phenomenon which created UFO's in the past may THEMSELVES be of a
technological nature (i.e., nuts and bolts craft), remnants of a past EARTH
civilization, no aliens necessary. These craft found hidden, or built using
ancient plans (remember the Mahabarata, and the supposed war that Atlantis
fought, and the air chariots of old that Kings and warriors rode in).
All are avenues of exploration.
