 Dear Building Community Family,

 THE SUN

If you have been with us for any length of time, you know Stan and
I don't get overly excited, but it's pretty hard to "maintain" when
your hair is standing on end!

We are hoping to arrange program time on Art Bell or Jeff Rense, or
both, but this can't wait. You know how we talked last message
about the sun having increased its magnetic field by 40% since 1964
and DOUBLED since 1901 and feel it has permanently changed our
weather? Today's sun picture shows some of the largest potential
for CME's we've seen. In past newsletters we discussed that when
S-shaped filaments from a sunspot reconnects ACROSS THE SUN'S
EQUATOR to another sunspot, there is a good chance of a CME.
Today, the sun shows at least 6, possibly 7 of these reconnected
 filaments!

If you want to look for yourself, go to it via the blinking
Geophysics News on our home page and click on the blinking Disaster
Warnings, or go directly there from our home page by clicking
"Special Solar Event Alert: Go See!"

Currently these spots are still about 4 days from being
"earth-side", so we don't know yet where these probable CME's will
be pointing. If they are pointing AT us, it may not be a happy
day. Calculating their arrival time of 4 days, it could be as long
as 8 days before protons from this event hit us. We are in the red
zone which indicates a 60-100% chance of both CME's and M and X
class flares within the next 48 hours.
   http://www.dxlc.com/solar/

Also from Jan's solar report: There was a CME on the 26th and "as
the origin of the flare was right at the central meridian, any CME
associated with it would have a very high probability of impacting
the earth. The impact time could be sometime from late on June 28
 to noon on June 29."

Further, for today, the sunspot number is 310! This count is
extremely high! At the VERY PEAK of Solar Cycle 19, there were
five days of sunspots ranging from 316 - 355 during December 22-26,
1957. Also, October 28-30, 1957, the spot count was 317-334. Bear
in mind, Solar Cycle 19 was The Worst solar cycle ever and we are
not yet at the peak of Solar Cycle 23. Peak is currently expected
Jan.-March 2000. We think this cycle will be a short and violent
 one.

 EL DIABLO

Good grief, where do we start... Stan has been monitoring El Diablo
so named as it is not an El Nino or a La Nina, yet exhibits
characteristics of both. From our records, Stan kept an OTIS map
from May 1996 just when things were getting ready for El Nino.
Comparing that map, where the heating patterns were pretty well
distributed both above and below the equator, ALL the heating now
is shoved UP into the Northern Hemisphere. Comparing the Northern
Hemisphere in 1996 to now, it is 85% HOTTER! Stan made a map
showing the increases in heating so you can see for yourself what
we are up against. This will be a bear cat well into next year.
Rather than rechew the explanation Stan has written for you, here
are the highlights, but be sure to read the rest of the data.
It is very enlightening. Freaky, but enlightening:

"All this data indicates the following conditions for the next 12
 months in varying degrees:

      1) Drought or unusually dry conditions: Japan, Alaska, most
of the USA (some wet weather may occur in Nevada and south of
there; and also, some summer storms may hit Florida coast and
slightly north of there), most of Canada, Iceland, Europe,
western Russia, Scandinavia, Central and southern Australia,
New Zealand, New Guinea, Fiji, 85% of Africa, southern
      Greenland.

      2) Ice melting with some flooding: Due to the increases in
the thermal anomaly in the northerly latitudes, I suspect we
will see increased polar ice melting in Siberia, Greenland and
      in northern Canada and Alaska.

      3) Super rain-bearing storms in northern Australia (especially
from Darwin to Gulf of Carpentaria), Southern California,
Washington and Oregon, western Canada, India and Bangladesh.
I suspect the NW USA, India and western Canada will get the
      worst storms."

One last thing we must caution you about. Kris from Kansas sent us
a prophecy by a Dr. Deagle heard on the Prophecy Club. Without
repeating the whole thing, the important point is this. Many
people will have put aside food and water in preparation for Y2K.
Some folks will need their supplies and be _very glad_ for it,
others will have an easier time of it, but we don't know for whom
which situation it will be. The ones who did not experience
problems are predicted to sell off their stored foods and supplies
in disgust for only $.11 - $.13 on the dollar. Wise people waiting
in the wings will happily snap up these bargains seeing their
value. Other folks who do not understand nor believe in the very
serious Earth changes soon upon us will dump their goods only to
 regret it later.

Stan and I have long been concerned about this exact scenario.
For those thinking Y2K is the only thing out there to make your
life less-than-gracious, it's just not so. Should Y2K turn out to
be a wash, DO NOT be persuaded to sell your stored foods. You've
already bought it and it's packed, for Pete's sake, hang onto it!
At the very least, rotate it into your regular meals. Selling it
for a loss makes zero common sense. I guess we all are guilty of
short-sightedness from time to time, let this not be one of those
times, for we have no excuse. The warnings are in front of us.

As Betty Davis once chirped, "Fasten your seat belts, it's gonna be
 a bumpy ride!"

 With affection,
 Holly, Stan, Seismo and Taco

 Dear Building Community Family,

This morning brought a rather unpleasant surprise with the sunspot
count at 341! This is the second highest in 200 years with the
highest at 355 in December 1957! This count is both per Jan
Alvestad's Solar Terrestial Activity Report at:
   http://www.dxlc.com/solar/
 and NASA at:
   http://www.SunspotCycle.com/

Further in Jan's report on Flares and CME's:

A large, full-halo coronal mass ejection was observed in LASCO C3
(satellite) starting at 09:06 UTC. "There is at least a 90%
likelihood of a terrestrial impact from this event. The impact
time window is from the latter half of June 29 until late on June
30 with the most likely time early on June 30. Active to severe
storming is likely. Solar wind speed has increased to rarely
observed values of near 900 km/sec. The interplanetary magnetic
field has swung southwards and the geomagnetic field should be at
storm levels for a large part of the day. A very strong magnetic
impulse was observed at the earth at 05:15 UTC."

We have also had numerous questions about how this will affect us
on Earth - so many that after answering them personally became
impossible, so we are putting out this short explanation:

Solar flare activity can disrupt radio communication; and radiation
from flares can give passengers in airplanes a dose of radiation
equivalent to a medical X-ray. Here is a direct quote from NOAA:
"Intense solar flares release very-high-energy particles that can
be as injurious to humans as the low-energy radiation from nuclear
blasts. Earth's atmosphere and magnetosphere allow adequate
protection for us on the ground, but astronauts in space are
subject to potentially lethal dosages of radiation. The
penetration of high-energy particles into living cells, measured as
radiation dose, leads to chromosome damage and, potentially,
cancer. Large doses can be fatal immediately. Solar protons with
energies greater than 30 MeV (Million Electron Volts-a measure of
electron energy) are particularly hazardous. In October 1989, the
Sun produced enough energetic particles that an astronaut on the
Moon, wearing only a space suit and caught out in the brunt of the
 storm, would probably have died."

Thankfully, this is NOT our problem on Earth!

 Heavy solar storms can affect:

Satellites, like in May 1998 when Galaxy IV was damaged and
      45,000,000 pagers wouldn't work

Power grid outages as was the case in Canada in 1989

Pipelines can experience accelerated corrosion of buried
      conductors

Radio communications, particularly short wave, become
      impossible

Certain navigation equipment like OMEGA or LORAN can be off as
      much as 2 miles

Climate - 'nuff said, in light of what we've already written
      about extensively!

      Ozone depletion accelerate

Computer chips zapped during power spikes

It can screw up animal "radar" seen when whales and dolphins beach
themselves and when homing pigeons lose their sense of direction.
Here's a good place to read more: A Primer on the Space Environment
 from NOAA,
   http://www.sec.noaa.gov/primer/primer.html
 and here's another:
   http://www.SunspotCycle.com/ from NASA.

For storms the size we _might_ be exposed to sometime in the future
but have yet to see, we don't want to contemplate the fallout, nor
will you find these scenarios discussed in the more conservative
 scientific circles.

During days when CME protons are due to hit Earth, stay inside as
much as possible and wear sunscreens if you must be out. Keep pets
inside too. Don't look at the sun directly; this is never a clever
idea. If we have warning that a strong CME will hit us, it'd be a
good precaution to unplug your computer, but this is _only_ a
precaution to protect against power spikes.

For more details, read the well done solar primers in the URLs
 above.

 Dear BC Family,

Jeff Rense has graciously rearranged his schedule so that Stan can
be on his show tonight which would be 8PM PST. Sorry for the short
notice, but this situation just arose. Because of the impact these
events may have on our lives, Jeff was quick to respond to the
needs of the public. You can hear Jeff Rense live via the Internet
 at http://www.sightings.com

Recognizing the urgency of this information, Art Bell
http://www.artbell.com has also generously rearranged his
schedule to give Stan air time, tentatively set for his Tuesday
night/Wednesday morning show starting at 10PM PST. We had hoped
to get this to you prior to Tuesday, but Hilly already has folks
booked through Monday. Art had called down here last week to see
if Stan wanted to be on. Stan thanked Art for opportunity, but
declined; there was nothing to talk about - then! Stan does not do
shows unless he has something he feels is important to share. Art
had a good time razzing Stanley when in so short a time, something
really BIG came up. It's almost as thought Art knew something was
coming. Who said life is dull!

 Our affection,
Holly and Stan, holding our breath
Seismo and Taco, cued not to bark, except at station break!
