Sadly, it's probably a scenario more akin to "Divine"
intervention being our only salvation:
In what ever form this divine intervention might take (i.e., HE,
She, They, etc.), I am afraid the situation is hopeless without a
legitimate form of it.
As Norio Hyakawa so aptly puts it, our ONLY option at this late
date (i.e., this point in time being WAY, WAY PAST any realistic
hope of being able to stop "them"), is to make ourselves right
with our makers, whom ever or whatever you have chosen that to
be. . .and if you haven't chosen, you had better DO IT FAST.
You see, without this HOPE of superhuman intervention, there is
only the inevitable horror of what WILL soon be upon us ALL (even
Klinton...which, btw, DOES comfort me a tad:)
I have " faith" that a "Divine" reality exists (i.e., hope,
albeit not a lot). I just pray that HE/They didn't just set us
into existence, meaning well at the time, and then SPLIT to more
promising projects!
On the other hand, could you really blame Them if They had, i.e.,
decided AGAINST "Project Humanity" after They saw the way we
could allow each other to suffer?
Well, . . .I gotta tell ya that knowing INTIMATELY how we are,
i.e., being one of us myself and all, I COULD NOT BLAME "THEM" IN
THE SLIGHTEST WAY for choosing to abort the project, other than
maybe for not putting us out of our misery long ago, like after
They lost faith in our _Humanity_, but BEFORE They departed.
After all, They HAD TO REALIZE that leaving us to our own doing,
knowing that our design was flawed, would lead to massive torment
and suffering?
"They" had to know that the way They had "messed us all up" would
most certainly be our end. Hell, it was probably this rather
MONUMENTAL SCREW UP of somehow allowing us to possess a trait so
very counter productive to our very existence, this extremely
undesirable flaw inherent to our very genetic essence, that was
the reason they seemingly abandoned the project in the first
place.
An advanced "Creator" such as "They" HAD TO HAVE BEEN, would have
HAD TO HAVE KNOWN that we had next to zero chance at long term
survival and eventual integration into any interplanetary
federation.
I am, of course, referring to that "human flaw" in us that can
allow the NEEDLESS mass suffering of our fellow species, even
after KNOWING in our hearts, as well as logically, that such
greedy and idiotic behavior would almost surely eventually lead
to our species total extinction.
Certainly They HAD to have seen this!
They must have been with us long enough ("Garden of Eden?") to
have seen that this behavioral flaw in our make-up was SO STRONG
that even after we OURSELVES learned that such primitive self
survival instincts would destroy us, we STILL could not stop
hurting each other.
They had to know that we would continue anyway, knowing full well
that the vast majority of Their creation would suffer
horrendously along the way to our end. And, that even though at
some later more advanced technological stage of our existence
when it would have been long known by us that this wholesale mass
suffering by way of each other was TOTALLY AND UTTERLY NEEDLESS,
that we would STILL continue with it, right up to our end.
They had to know that even when we were advanced enough to
understand that such selfish behavior is fine for an individual's
survival, but that as far as long term survival of THE SPECIES is
concerned, survival in which eventual emergence into a universe
TEEMING with life would require team work and love for each other
(if for no other reason than to demonstrate to those voting on
our incumbency into such an interplanetary society would vote to
the affirmative), that even then, we would be incapable of
modifying this behavior. . .NOT EVEN IF AND WHEN IT WOULD
INEVITABLY THREATEN OUR OWN TOTAL EXTINCTION (again, if not by
our own doing, then by some higher group determining that we can
not be trusted with membership into the "higher heavens").
Our glorious and loving Creators had to have seen that even
though They were successful in making us HIGHLY intelligent and
sentient, i.e., clearly able to understand all this, that They
made this "human flaw" of ours both SO STRONG and SO LONG LIVED,
that we would not ourselves EVER be able to temper or stop this
behavior, even though we knew that in continuing it "not only
will every one else die, but 'ME, MYSELF, and I' will TOO!"
They had to have seen that in giving us this trait, this trait
that was so successful in helping us to survive early in our
development (just in case they couldn't get back to check on us
here and there, for example), this SELF SURVIVAL urge that makes
us selfish, greedy, and noncompassionate, and thus an odds-on
favorite for early species survival. . .They had to see that they
were SEALING OUR LONG TERM FATE in doing so, that we were
destined to fail from the git-go?
Maybe, They had every intention of getting back to us before now
to adjust us so as to be more loving to each other, and thus more
likely to pull together in order to survive and even emerge as a
welcome contributer to some higher order of CIVILIZED
interplanetary society??
Maybe They got detained? Maybe They had transportaion problems?
Could be that Their Stargate broke down. Anything would be
better than to think They just don't care about us anymore:(
Anything would be better than to find out that They messed up SO
BAD on us that they just couldn't logically justify "throwing
more good money [effort] after bad?" Maybe those of Them on the
front lines (those here actually working with us) just couldn't
wait for authorization to pull the plug and split!
Knowing us like I do, I would not blame Them if after They
briefly tried to repair us, i.e., having to work in close
proximity to us in order to fix us, that They just very promptly
proceeded to find us SO nasty and mean, even to each other, that
even They, OUR "PARENTS," grew to hate us! I could see this. I
hate us a lot of the time, myself!
Listen. Could you honestly blame Them for this? There comes a
time when logic SHOULD prevail over emotion, no? Epecially with
Them being so EXTREMELY superior in logic and intelligence,
right? I mean, come ON. . .don't you just sometimes WISH you
could cut your losses with those lazy, video-game-playing,
loud-rap-music-blasting, teenage bums of yours sleeping in the
other room right now. . .just DUMP THEM. . .just cut your losses
RIGHT NOW and BAIL. . .making them some one elses problem?
Wouldn't that be GREAT!
But, alas, we are far inferior to our Creators. We're stuck with
our own creations EVEN IF all logic would suggest to bail on the
INCONSIDERATE BUMS. "For better or worse," logical OR NOT:(
Well, anyway, since They had to have known all this, ESPECIALLY
the part about the incredible torment and suffering that MOST
humans that would ever be born were most likely to experience (AT
THE HANDS OF EACH OTHER, no less). . .well, I can hardly blame
them for abandoning us. CAN YOU? I mean, REALLY??
I do have one thing I'd LOVE to BITCH SLAP some knots to their
bonnets for, however.
For NOT FINNISHING US OFF BEFORE THEY LEFT!
But then again, who knows? Maybe They thought They HAD!
Just maybe, this "humanity" flaw of ours, this ability to survive
against all odds. . .just maybe it is a whole-hellovalot stronger
than even "They" could have ever imagined!
And, just maybe, someday in the not-so-distant future, we will
meet up with Them and finally be able to thank Them in a way They
so richly deserve.
Namely, BEATING THE ABSOLUTE $H!T OUT OF'EM, BUT GOOD!
Putting the BAD BOY HURTS T'THEIR FRICKIN ASSES, LIKE THEY DID TO
US. . .FOR MESSIN WITH THE BADEST OF THE BAD, SCREWING US UP TO
NO END, AND THEN MESSING UP AGAIN, EVEN WORSE, WAY WORSE _FOR
THEM_. . .THEY FAILED TO FINNISH US OFF, LEAVING US FOR DEAD,
WHEN IN FACT WE WERE _WORSE_ THAN DEAD!! WE WERE ALIVE AND WE
WERE PISSED!!
And, the most tragic part of all this, the part that makes me
angrier at "Them" than anything else, is that for the next
gazzilion years this "human trait" They instilled in us
manifested, due to those inept bastards not being around to take
the brunt of it OR FIX IT. . .it manifested in us taking out our
anger for "Them" ON EACH OTHER!!
Well, I have a dream. . .and it goes a bit like this:
"OOOoooh!! TAKE THAAAAT!! AND, THAAT, you dirty bastards. .
.for making me kill Kenny!!"
Well, until the day my dream comes true, my poor suffering
compatriots, my condolences to you ALL. . .and, if we ever meet
up with "Them," my condolences to Them when we get thru with'em.
