It's also sometimes referred to as "hypersomnia"--it's in the neurological
penumbra between seizure disorders and migraine. Essentially what happens is
that the brain wakes up but the body doesn't. I've seen it happen, and it can
scare the living shit out of the person it happens to. See Oliver Sachs,
*Migraine*, for a discussion of this and related phenomena.
