US Constitution, Art.VI: "This Constitution, and the Laws of the
United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all
Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the
United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the
Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the
Constitution or Laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding."

No mention of Articles of Confederation, is there? It doesn't say,
"This Constitution, and Laws of the United States made in Pursuance
thereof, and all Treaties, and the Articles of Confederation, shall
be the supreme Law of the Land." The Articles aren't mentioned by
the Constitution because with the ratification of the Constitution,
the Articles were dead, null & void, inoperative, poof. The Articles
describe the old form of gov't with state sovereignty, the old gov't
that didn't work. Confederation didn't work, Federalism HAS worked,
however imperfectly. Live with it. Time to move on, eh? Why obsess
over a failed 18th-century gov't at the start of the 21st century?
