Gee, what an inappropriate analogy. The truth of the matter is that the news
media of Hitler's era, both domestic and worldwide, as well as the political
establishments and the intelligence and foreign services of the times all
actively and passively concealed and underreported the existence and extent
of the holocaust until well into the 1940's with the full extent of the Nazi
activities not becoming publicly known until after the end of the war. The
New York Times was as guilty of this as the rest of the American press.
