-Caveat Lector- July 27, 1999 TNN's Wrestling Partner Jokes About JFK Jr. Tuesday, July 27, 1999 TV's traditionally wholesome Nashville Network is close to signing a deal with an on-air personality whose idea of comedy involves John F. Kennedy Jr. plane-crash jokes. Joel Gertner, a wrestling announcer who's expected to appear on TNN's soon-to-be-launched ECW wrestling show, surprised TV viewers last weekend with a distasteful JFK Jr. commentary that aired in several markets through ECW's syndicated TV show. Typical of the humor was a double-entendre joke about the size of JFK, Jr.'s "cockpit" and an imitation involving gurgling noises. ECW management distanced itself from Gertner's shock commentary by refusing to post the transcript on the company's official web site, even after Gertner told viewers it would be available at the site. In its place was a statement by ECW management: "We here at ECWwrestling.com apologize to anyone who was offended by Joel's tasteless remarks on the TV show."
