FBI means Full Blown Insanity

JANET RENO has promised a thorough investigation of the 1993 FBI assault on
the Branch Davidian sect in Waco.

All Reno has to do is walk to her local video store and rent a copy of
"Waco: The Rules of Engagement."

This Oscar and Emmy-nominated documentary was made two years ago, exposing
FBI lies about Waco, lies bought by such "liberal" members of Congress as
Tom Lantos and Charles Schumer.

The first FBI lie in the film is a recording of a negotiator talking to a
child.

"Are you going to come in and kill me?" asks the child.

"No, honey, we aren't coming in to kill you," says the FBI man.

A few hours later, the tanks crashed though the walls, shooting powerful
military CS tear gas into the kitchen where the women and children were
hiding.

That girl and 75 other men, women and children were dead.

Last week, because a former FBI man went public, FBI officials finally
admitted lying to Reno when they said they hadn't used pyrotechnic devices.
The 1997 documentary has pictures of the two pyrotechnic gas grenades the
FBI admitted using.

The documentary has everything in it you've read recently about Waco except
the involvement of the Army's Delta Force.

However, the film's executive producer / producer, Dan Gifford, wrote about
the Delta Force involvement in June in Skeptic Magazine and on the film web
site, waco93.com.

Here it is August, and it's just now news. Everyone in the press should rent
the film, too.

"We failed in not following up (on Waco), in not holding people accountable
and not asking the tough questions over and over again," says Beverly Kees,
editor and program director of the Freedom Forum Pacific Coast Center, a
media watchdog group.

The Freedom Forum, the California First Amendment Coalition and other groups
will show "Waco: The Rules of Engagement" at Berkeley's North Gate Hall on
Sept. 18. It's part of a conference called "Will the First Amendment Survive
the New Millennium?"

You have to wonder about all those other amendments, too, particularly the
one about unreasonable search and seizure.

The documentary features eerie infrared surveillance film showing the muzzle
flashes of machine guns fired near tanks crashing into the flimsy Davidian
buildings. The scientist who developed the infrared technology for the
military identified the flashes as gunfire.

Yet FBI officials say they didn't fire a single shot. Well, maybe it was the
Delta Force team doing the shooting. But let's not get "conspiratorial."

It's strange, but those who question the operation are called militia
members by liberals well aware of the FBI's conspiracies against Martin
Luther King and anti-Vietnam War protesters.

But forget conspiracies. The film sticks to what Jack Webb called "Just the
facts, ma'am."

In the film a former Houston fire chief testifies that the FBI created a
"pot-bellied stove" by opening up holes in the Davidian buildings. A Dow
Chemical fire expert and a former EPA gas expert testify on the flammability
of the CS gas, and how it creates hydrogen cyanide when it burns.

That's the same stuff used in gas chambers. The film shows a photo of the
burned corpse of an 8-year-old, bent backward like a prawn because of muscle
contractions characteristic of hydrogen cyanide poisoning.

The gas expert says that prisoners condemned to the gas chamber are strapped
down so witnesses to the execution don't have to see that kind of death.

We all saw the shocking execution without trial of that child and the 75
others. The trouble is, we haven't been shocked enough.

They were members of a cult, we say. The mothers should have saved their
children by sending them out, said the FBI.

Never mind that FBI agents were mooning those in the compound and giving
them the finger. We see agents burying a dead sect member outside his
family's windows. Later the FBI drove tanks back and forth over the grave,
according to Davidian survivor Clive Doyle.

"I was brought in to understand the psychology of the people inside the
compound," said Alan Stone, a professor of law and psychiatry at Harvard
hired as a government consultant.

"I learned the psychology of the people outside the compound was more
important to understanding the situation."

"They wanted to kill (Branch Davidian leader David) Koresh," says Gifford.
"They wanted retaliation for those dead ATF agents (shot during the earlier
raid). They'd been standing out there for 51 days. Their manhood was in
question."

After the building and the people in it are turned to cinders, you see the
ATF flag run up the flagpole, as if it was a military victory. So it goes in
a land where police agencies have been militarized.

"Janet Reno is not the bad guy," says Gifford. "She was raped by the FBI.
She just acted on the facts she had."

Now it looks like we may have the FBI investigating itself. Rent the video
instead.
