-Caveat Lector-
Some things I learned about the law from being married to a lawyer and
working as a legal secretary for 16 years:
1. The law assumes a reasonable person. It is unreasonable, considering
what was at stake, for the person occupying the highest legal office in our
land to be so unreasonable as to not inform herself of the facts surrounding
the seige at Waco.
2. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Since even the unknowing person is
held liable for the totality of the law, it is assumed that said
aforementioned reasonable person would take the time and trouble to inform
themselves of the facts in the case and the law surrounding those facts. If
Janet is telling the truth, then she neither exhibited reason nor knowledge
of the law.
3. A phrase frequently used in legal pleadings is: "...knew or should have
known..." This is a direct application of the concept outlined in point No.
2 above. Therefore Janet Reno either knew, or should have known, all the
facts involved in the proceedings at Waco. Her contention that she did not
know (or was misinformed) of the truth in the matter, is worse than a
cop-out ... it is in direct violation of legal concepts which ordinary
persons are bound by. She has placed herself above the law, just as her boss
has.
