technology threaten to solve most of the environmental problemsthat
they claim to care about.

A technocratic myth propagated by those who deify science. Technology now
promises what religion never delivered - eternal life. Yet more empty
promises from those who would control - the priestly robes have merely
changed into white lab coats.
Technology cannot save the earth because no matter what kind of technology
one uses, resources are needed to be drawn from the earth in order to
transmute into energy for the "needs" of humanity. The only thing that can
save us is slowing down and deciding to "need" less. For starters, get off
the sugar, nicotine, and caffeine and you will be less frantic for
stimulation and satisfaction; hence, you will use less resources.
If technology was the answer to environmental problems then Americans, the
most technologically advanced people on the planet, would not use roughly
800 times the resources as the average earthling, which we do.
