They call them "political wives." A surprising number of powerful men in
Britain during the days of the Society of the Elect, RIIA and the early CFR
were closet homosexuals made socially acceptable by being married --
typically, to an equally closeted lesbian.
Social mores haven't changed much since in the UK. Nor, possibly, even in
the US.
The wonderful thing about "coming out," besides being a courageous step
forward in personal honesty, is that the public then knows what it's really
getting. On the other hand, however, the public --the majority of whom are
heterosexuals-- might object to having their lives judged and controlled by
that tiniest of minorities, sexual inverts ...
