I talked to a German whose father was a liberal democrat during(and before)
the nazi years. He survived by keeping his head down during the years. where
he was working, the nazis, put their people in charge. After the war, the
allies put him on a denazification panel. But before long the allies
cancelled it and he had to go and work for the same nazi bosses as before.
He also mentioned the disaster that was implemented by the morgentau plan..
another betrayal.

PS the liberal democrats were essentially the party of the professional
middle classes(doctor, dentists etc)
