needing a "public mandate" to get "free of the central power grid"
is bogus. Ya want grid freedom? Put up solar cells. Then sell
your excess power *to* the grid. In my coastal county north of San
Francisco, I've heard reports that an investment of US$10,000 will
give a return of $5K per year. I'm very likely to do just that
