Well, what did you expect? Crane Brinton's classic *Anatomy of Revolution*
(which by the way I highly recommend) notes that every revolution has gone
through parallel stages, winding up with an imperial stage (vide Cromwell as
"Lord Protector", Napoleon, Stalin, Nixon et al.). If the "Reagan
Revolution" was a genuine revolution and not simply a palace coup, then the
enthronement of George II Bush would be the next logical development.
This is precisely why Jefferson made his famous comment that "The tree of
liberty must be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and
tyrants. It is its natural manure." Whether the most effective weapon in the
fight against tyranny is a rifle or a computer, however, is still up for
grabs, as some of the recent discussion here on the list has suggested...
