Hi:
I was watching the news about serious car crashes and they showed
a woman who was trapped in an overturned car with a broken back
for 4 days with the driver dead at her side. Fortunately she was saved.
Then, they switched to a woman who was trapped by the North Carolina
floods and had no phone service. Her car lights started flashing and
her car started beeping outside her house. Guess what? Her car phone
was calling her.
They showed another man whose car had an accident. He was part of
a 600 person test in the northeast states. These cars have installed a
system with a telephone connected to the Satellite GPS system and if
your car has an accident, your telephone knows it, and notifies the
agency which installed this phone and they call you to see if you are
okay, to report your position to the police, and call your insurance agent
for you on the spot and an ambulance if necessary. It can even tell if
your car is upsidedown or rightside up.
Doesn't this sound wonderful? It is if you WANT this in your car. What
is going to happen when the testing phase is done and they REQUIRE
this in all new cars?
Is anybody getting this? What if this is REQUIRED? What if you can't
get insurance without this system in your car. It's already state law
that you have to have insurance in order to license your car.
