Careful -- a COMMITMENT to civil disobedience is really what opened the door
to the Sixties. You wouldn't want THAT kind of decade to happen again, now,
would you?
Remember, as soon as those practicing civil disobedience became PUBLIC
figures, ADMIRED for bearding the authoritarian lion and getting away with
it, our "Government" had to "mop up" --by killing off W, "buying out" X,
entrapping and publicly disgracing Y, cutting off Z's access to resources
needed for survival until there was no out but suicide -- in order to reverse
what was becoming a POPULAR trend. The moral of the media's history of the
Sixties being, "Those who question or rebel against Established Authority
always come to an unfortunate end," with the flip-side --dramatizing the
extraordinary latitude promised those who Work WITHIN The System-- provided
by Nixon's pardon -- an inspiration to the craven survivors who, by the '80s,
were glamorized as Yuppies ..
