IAN: I assume that that refers to my initial post and the issue of blaming psychotropic drugs for the actions of people who are on them, of which I noted only children. In the case of mind-altering medicine taken by people who aren't fully informed about their full range of potential effects, the argument that the patient alone should be held accountable for their actions is untenable. The very purpose of those psychotropic drugs is to make a person feel and do what they would not otherwise feel or do. A typical best-case scenario is that a person is depressed and then takes antidepressants and feels better, and then gets up and becomes active, doing things they would not otherwise do. The very nature of these drugs demands that we assume in many cases like that, a given individual is NOT responsible for the actions of getting better and doing things they would not have otherwise done -- the drug made them get better and then get up and do things. With that indisputable fact (about the assumed nature of these drugs) in mind, to say that if the person then gets up and does harmful things THEY are responsible for those actions, is suddenly changing the rules and now absolving the drug, its pushers and manufacturer of responsibility that otherwise, in the case of getting up and going good things, they would be given and accept only too quickly. They want to have it both ways: "We are responsible if the patient gets up and does good things, but we are not responsible if the patient gets up and does bad things." The fact is that the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) function in a fashion similar to PCP, an illicit drug notorious for inducing states of extreme psychotic violence. In fact, PCP is an SSRI !! Research also indicates that PCP-induced pathological behavior is a result of its increasing extracellular levels of serotonin, which is exactly what all SSRIs do.
