The "they" in this sentence refers to the Egyptians, not the Illuminati.
Read it as "what the relatively modern illuminati CLAIM the Egyptians
believed."
Occult scholars and Masons like Manly P. Hall are very fond of claiming that
the "truths" of Masonry have been passed on, unaltered, for millennia,
through the institutionalized belief systems they're promoting.
Unfortunately, scholars who are NOT seeking to advance the agenda of "secret
societies" find no evidence of speculative Freemasonry existing at all before
the early Renaissance, among Hermeticists, and no evidence of a Pike-style
"Luciferian" Freemasonry existing before the 17th Century, among the same
British Imperialist characters who brought us modern "occult politics" -- the
high priesthood of science, technocracy, capitalism-qua-feudalism, and by way
of the RIIA/CFR, the NWO. The IDEAS involved may be old --they go back at
least as far as Plato, who was among those who freely "Greek-icized" the
concepts of older Near Eastern cultures in the service of their own
philosophical jingoism-- but it is a difficult task indeed to demonstrate
exactly how and when and through whom such ideas had any impact whatsoever on
the REAL-world politics and economics of the ten centuries
prior to the Templars and the fifteen centuries prior to organized elitist
Freemasonry.
Of course, you may respond that the total absence of historical evidence does
not in the least indicate the absence of "secret" political power but the
contrary --i.e., that their power was SO secret that it left no traces-- but,
on the same basis, I could argue that
homosexual anteaters from the planet Wazoo and their human minions have ruled
us SECRETLY since time immemorial and their agenda, here and there visible in
periodic upswings in the popularity of homosexuality among ruling elites,
should be obvious if only we string together bits and pieces of anomalous
data, using imagination liberally and accepting an unbroken continuity of
their activities through history on faith alone, "trust me." Personally, I
refuse to give any credence to "secret societies" who WANT us to believe in
the omnipotence and omnipresence of "secret societies. One might as well be
a propagandist in their service, even if one is "opposing" them, if their
ideas are being taken seriously, uncritically. Let's please stick to facts
and narrow the scope of any argument to something realistic, closer to the
concrete historical record, which does indeed indicate the attempt of
--relatively modern-- "secret societies" to acquire REAL-world power over
humanity, and acquire it as much through our BELIEF in them --through
disinformation and propaganda-- as through more ordinary power-politics.
I'm not disputing anything you may say about Albert Pike's minority-Masonic
worldview (presented, for example, in the tome "Morals and Dogma") nor about
what some of his
precedessors in Masonry may have believed, or publicly CLAIMED to believe
(oh, so "secret societies" plainly tell us outsiders what their ESOTERIC
convictions are?) -- I would just like the arena narrowed somewhat, so we
don't have to face CONJECTURES
about "ancient" Freemasonry and "secret" Egyptian belief systems, which IMHO
only destroy the credibility of any argument AGAINST the values of sinister
occult groups.
In my post I tried to make the necessary distinction between Egyptian
myth/religion as recorded by the Egyptians themselves (e.g., in tombs which
non-believing outsiders were not expected to penetrate) and your accounting
of what Freemasons of the Pike stripe SAY the Egyptians "secretly" believed,
so each framework can be examined and judged separately, on its own merits,
not mixing the two together as if the latter were based on sounder evidence
than the former. Proceed with your argument, by all means.
As I see it, it doesn't MATTER what the ancient Egyptians REALLY believed --
the main subject here is what (some) Freemasons/Illuminati TELL US the
Egyptians "secretly" believed, and that is sufficient for the purpose of your
argument, which has its OWN points to make. For the sake of argument, let's
even ASSUME that what these groups
tell us is based on the truth -- but let's make it clear that this is just an
ASSUMPTION.
