-Caveat Lector- http://www.anxietycenter.com/warning.htm Nov. 5, 1999 ~ Vol. 1, No. 19 By Alan Caruba The Real Terrorists On Halloween, The Washington Post had a story about how the Federal Bureau of Investigation had discovered evidence of "religious extremists, racists, cults and other groups preparing for violence as New Year�s Eve approaches." I would dearly love to know what those "other groups" are, but let me share my suspicion they are the eco-terrorists and the animal rights terrorists. I suspect they may have some dramatic and very nasty plans for the New Year�s weekend. Here�s a list of likely and potential targets for Green terrorist action that may well occur over the New Year�s transition of Friday, December 3lst to Saturday, January 1st and that entire weekend. They may attempt to attack oil refineries and chemical manufacturing plants. There may be attempts to disable nuclear energy plants. They may attack the nation�s electrical grid. They may attack earthen dams and levees. They may attack corporate farm operations, seeking to damage the huge combines and other equipment. Wholesale attacks on ranches, hog farms, and, in particular, fur-farming operations are likely to occur. Animals will be "liberated." Retail outlets such as fur and pet stores may be targeted. Timber operations and sawmills in particular may be targeted. Universities where any form of research involving animal testing may be attacked, along with pharmaceutical companies engaged in comparable testing. Individual researchers have already been identified and may be at risk for their lives. Zoos and other animal preserves should be especially vigilant. Hunting and fishing over the New Year�s weekend may carry a higher level of personal risk from those opposed to these sporting activities. Ski resorts such as those in Aspen, Colorado, in other Western States may be targeted. It�s going to be a long weekend for lots of people who have real reason to fear the real terrorists. My view is that the endless lies propagated by the Greens in the United Nations, in US and other nation�s governmental agencies, in multi-million dollar environmental organizations, in our schools, and even in groups like the World Council of Churches, all constitute a form of terrorism designed to frighten people to achieve the goal of global power. Though not terrorist organizations by the strictest definition, those directing the programs of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of the Interior qualify. Ask anyone who has run afoul of their intentions. For the record, some really good people who work for these agencies strongly disagree with their bosses, but lack the clout to do much except expose them. For example, David Lewis, a 28-year veteran of the EPA has gone public to reveal that the EPA�s misuse of science has gone from "chronic to acute." Life at the EPA is pure hell for anyone who questions agency decisions. They become outcasts living in "an atmosphere of fear." The chief terrorist is Al Gore�s handpicked Agency Director, Carol Browner. Right now, among other plots against our health, the EPA is trying to ban chlorpyrifos. Anyone who has ever dealt with termites, grubs, fleas or cockroaches, to name just a few pests, knows what this chemical is because it is sold by Dow as "Dursban" and it is the best, most commonly used pesticide by both the public and pest control professionals. EPA stooges keep talking about "residues", but this chemical breaks down in sunlight, from oxygenation, rain, you name it. It�s been in use successfully against pests for decades with absolutely no indication it has harmed anyone except the occasional idiot who drinks it straight from the bottle. The other EPA and Green scare tactic is the assertion that just about any chemical is a hormone disrupter that "could" lead to cancers, neurological problems, and infertility. Anybody notice a dramatic rise in any of these problems? No. The National Academy of Sciences, in August, issued a 414-page report stating there is insufficient evidence to support this Big Lie. Did you read about it in the mainstream press? No. Instead, you read about a bogus "scientific" study showed that genetically modified (GM) crops were killing off all the Monarch butterflies. This is "science" by scary headline, arguably a form of terrorism, and has nothing to do with real science. On November 1st, the Associated Press reported that more than five million monarch butterflies had arrived in their Mexican sanctuaries with at least 180 million more expected. GM seeds are a major target of Greenpeace International, based in Amsterdam. They are terrorists with whom we have to concern ourselves. Greenpeace has two goals at present. Eliminate GM crops and eliminate PVC plastic in medical products. Been to a hospital lately? Everything, including some human replacement parts, is plastic. People actually get better and go home. Plastic may just be one of the greatest scientific developments of the century. A previous and presumably on-going third target is chlorine, the chemical that purifies water and has dozens of other beneficial uses. Allow me to add a few more names to my list of Enemies of Mankind because they all signed a full page advertisement in an October 26th issue of The New York Times claiming the world is playing "Genetic Roulette" with genetically engineered plants and animals. They included Greenpeace USA, the Sierra Club, the U.S. Public Interest Research Group, the Center for Food Safety, the Earth Island Institute, Friends of the Earth, the Pesticide Action Network, the Campaign for Responsible Transplantation, the Native Forest Council, and the Native Forest Network, among others. Most certainly, Earth First! belongs on this list as well. One of the Sierra Club�s plans for the destruction of the nation is one intended to flood the areas around the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers by eliminating all those nice dams and levees upstream. Bruce Babbitt, the Secretary of the Interior is one of the leading advocates of this plan to destroy dams everywhere in the nation. The last time the Mississippi overflowed its banks, it flooded out a huge chunk of middle America. Most people in the area would have preferred to have their homes, farms, and businesses intact. The Sierra Club, however, doesn�t care about people. Apparently, it doesn�t care about the thousands of acres of farms and cropland that help feed people. According the Sierra Club�s magazine, the midwestern flood plains have been "destroyed for agriculture." These folks are not your friends. Humane Concern is the only Animal Right. The growing menace of the animal rights lunatics is still not being fully addressed by the nation�s press. In late October, someone sent letters containing razor blades to more than 80 scientists at l8 academic centers as a warning to discontinue animal research. In an October 30th editorial, the Boston Herald said, "Why some people continue to treat People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals as a worthy cause is a mystery. By condoning terrorism, PETA has lost any claim to respectability." The editorial quoted Ingrid Newkirk, PETA�s co-founder as saying, "I hope it frightens (the researchers) out of their careers." This is the same woman who compared the slaughter of six million chickens to the murder of six million Jews during the Holocaust. The FBI has long been on record calling animal rights advocates terrorists. The next time People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals comes up with one of those headline catching stunts, just remember who these people really are and what they intend to do. The other group is the Animal Liberation Front which functions with small, isolated cells, much as any underground group bent on terrorism does. According to Americans for Medical Progress, threats of violence and vandalism against laboratories and the homes of animal researchers has been on the rise in recent months. A report on MSNBC, based on a lengthy investigation by the Portland Oregonian, revealed that, since 1980, there has been a dramatic increase of arson, bombing, and sabotage in the name of saving the environment and its creatures throughout the American West. At least one hundred major acts of such violence have caused an estimated $42.8 million in damage in eleven contiguous Western States. And where does Al Gore stand on the issue of animal rights? On October 15th, the Associated Press reported that the Clinton-Gore Administration "took steps to minimize animal testing." The EPA sent a letter to 900 corporations saying, among other things, "that no animal experiments should be performed when other test methods are available. It also called for a delay in the testing of several chemicals while new methods are developed�" The story noted that "a spokeswoman for Gore referred queries to the EPA". Connect the dots! If you read about terrorism as the new century begins on January 1st, it will be from these far left lunatics. It�s not likely to be Islama Bin laden who is currently just trying to get out of Afganistan with his skin intact. The New York Times Lies About the Environment It is a mystery to me why, since the early 1990�s no one has ever disputed the work of William K. Stevens, a so-called science reporter for The New York Times. He has written well over 125 articles devoted to "global warming" and they are nothing more than Green spin designed to convince readers that it is occurring when thousands of scientists worldwide are on record that it is not. The earth�s overall, average temperature has not warmed in fifty years. Yet another front-page story by Stevens showed up on the Sunday, October 3lst issue, appropriately on Halloween. "Global Economy Slowly Cuts Use of Fuels Rich in Carbon." The article seeks to convince readers that nations around the world are phasing out fossil fuel consumption such as petroleum and coal, in favor of natural gas. And, of course, horrible things will happen if they don�t. It is an education in itself to spot the weasel words that Stevens constantly employs. Unidentified "scientists say" that concentrations of carbon dioxide are warming the earth. Well, surprise, in interglacial periods like the one we�re in, there is always a rise in carbon dioxide which the earth naturally annually produces in the billions of metric tons. Stevens doesn�t mention that. The article says that "experts", again unidentified, "say that atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide may be double that of the pre-industrial era�" The operative word here is "may." It�s a long article so I won�t bore you with all the slippery nonsense, but what is quoted comes mostly attributed to only two people, a Dr. Ausubel of Rockefeller University and a Hal Harvey of the Energy Foundation. This isn�t journalism. It is pure Green PR designed to influence the public to support the UN plotters and schemers currently meeting in Bonn to implement the bogus UN Kyoto Climate Control Treaty. Readers of "Warning Signs" know that the US representatives are desperately trying to put off the next planning meeting until 2001 after the next presidential election. Indeed, desperation over the failure of the global warming hoax is increasingly informing everything the Greens do these days. Now, finally, thanks to my friend, Robert L. Bartley, president of the Institute for Energy Research, Houston, let�s get some facts, rather than the hearsay offered by Stevens. We are not running out of oil. "Proved oil reserves today are estimated to be fifteen times greater than the original (1948) estimate." The so-called "depletion signal" for any energy source has, says Bartley, not yet emerged. It gets better, "World natural gas reserves in the last thirty years have increased almost five-fold despite interim production of almost double the 1967 estimate." We have so much coal we could heat and fuel everything in sight for a very long time, thank you very much! We don�t have to cut back anything. We can drive our cars, heat our homes, fuel our industries, and we aren�t even talking about hydroelectric power that, if harnessed further, could bring ever more prosperity worldwide. Who opposes dams worldwide? The Greens! And here�s a new warning about The New York Times. It has already launched an attack on genetically modified food crops. Watch as this escalates. Ranked as the best newspaper in the nation, nothing the Times publishes about the environment should be trusted unless supported from other, independent, news and research sources. Playing with Models Given the pathetic performance of the computer modelers of the UN�s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, you�d think that scientists would be a bit more wary of such models, but the October 22nd issue of Science magazine had an article advocating an "international ecosystem assessment" to advance what has now become a huge joke, the ability to accurately predict anything to do with so-called "eco-systems." As my friend, Dr. David E. Wojick, is wont to point out, the world�s weather operates as pure chaos. You can�t predict chaos. The Greens modus operendi is to scare enough people to let these digital morons run the whole damned world in the name of the United Nations. Thus the endless predictions of huge coastal flooding as oceans rise, massive desertization, vast diseases spreading worldwide. Et cetera. None of this is happening. None of this is likely to happen. Dr. Wojick, who writes for Electricity Daily, deems the Modelers Manifesto "insane." He�s right. We must rid the world of the United Nations. The alternative is called sovereignty for each nation and the global cooperation being imposed by worldwide free market systems that demand accountability. It is no longer 1947. It is, indeed, a new world and the advocates of Communist/Socialist domination are as active as ever. The Green World Council of Churches A worship service for those attending the Bonn UN Conference of the Parties #5, the people attempting to foist the bogus UN Kyoto Treaty on Climate Control, was organized by the Protestant Churches of Germany with participation by Klaus Topfer, the UN Environmental Program executive director, and members of the World Council of Churches, One participant was horrified to discover that the WCC has become little more than another front for worldwide Greens. "God�s creation is being damaged," said the pastor, asserting that it is "one of the greatest threats to human existence." The enemies he identified included "materialism and consumerism", i.e., an improved life for people around the world. Preaching an �earth gospel", he said, "We are deeply concerned about the danger of climate change." Wrong. The threat is the Greens who have infiltrated churches to subvert the stewardship message of the Old and New Testaments. The Insanity of the World: A Brief Review Every day I read three newspapers and a variety of other publications in order to see what new Big Lie is being foisted on the public. I started The National Anxiety Center in 1990 out of the personal frustration of reading things in the mainstream media that I knew had no basis in scientific fact. Lately, though, it sometimes seems like I can�t keep up with the insanity being directed against genetically modified seeds that produce more crops on less land, against biomedical research that has saved countless lives and will save even more, and just about every personal decision people are supposed to be allowed to make in a free society. To keep pace, I recommend you bookmark www.Junkscience.Com, where Steve Milloy does a magnificent job posting the daily barrage of lies. Despite the news media�s effort to tell you that everything about America is a horror, the occasional piece of good news gets through. For example, did you know that crime is at its lowest point in the past 32 years? The nation�s murder rate in 1988 dropped to its lowest point since LBJ was president. Other violent crimes are all in decline. This is occurring at the same time there is an effort to restrict the ownership of guns by law-abiding citizens. Liberals weep for convicted criminals. Conservatives just want to lock them up! Green Bullets. You can take solace that, in the future, the US Army will be killing our enemies with ecologically approved bullets. They are currently trying to develop lead-free, combat ready cartridges by 2003. Now, the recipients of these bullets will be just as dead, but we won�t be polluting the earth with anything more than their bodies. And you still think the Greens aren�t stark raving insane? For those actually thinking about voting for Al Gore, keep in mind that, if elected, he has promised to sign an executive order (what else?) to ban any new drilling for oil and gas off the coasts of California and Florida. Remember that when the price of gasoline goes up, along with the cost of heating your home. No doubt, Ozone Al was delighted to hear that a coalition of environmental groups recently filed a federal suit in Salt Lake City to restrict the use of dune buggies, dirt bikes, and all-terrain vehicles on 23 million acres of federal land in Utah. The Government Wants Your Property. It gets worse, by the time you read this, the GOP leadership in Congress may have brokered a deal permitting the Clinton-Gore Lands Legacy 2000 or CARA (HR 701/S-25) act to be attached to one of several appropriations bills now being considered. No rancher, no farmer, no landowner will be safe if this legislation is passed. It is a huge land acquisition-funding program. It is the fulfillment of EarthFirst!�s "Wildlands Project." It will launch an unprecedented land buying binge and when the government wants your land, you are virtually defenseless. Remember, the ultimate Green goal is to restrict ACCESS AND USE of our nation and its natural resources. Mining in US under attack by White House. Rep. Don Young recently pointed out that "the Clinton-Gore Administration is determined to implement national policies that reduce mining in the United States. Under Secretary Bruce Babbitt, the Department of the Interior virtually operates as an arm of the Sierra Club. The Department continually promotes policies, pushed by national environmental groups, which combine the use of strict land use regulation and costly fee to curtail mineral production from federal lands." The DOI has recently re-written existing law with a memorandum that would prohibit a mine on public land from using more than one acre of land in support of the mine for every four acres within the actual mining area. I�ll make this easy to understand. It can�t be done! Mining requires more land to support its operation. The DOI reinterpretation of the law effectively bans countless mining operations. It�s a war on America by the White House. The reduction of mining the U.S., increases the value of mining in places like China and Indonesia, to name just two. Keeping Monument Designations a Secret. On October 20th, the Conservative News Service reported that Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt was under fire from a member of the House Resources Committee because he refused to provide information regarding the administration�s plan to consider certain federal, state and private lands for national monument designation. Not unreasonably, Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ) wanted to know if Babbitt would provide this list, but his answer as "No." This allows the Clinton-Gore Administration to just show up, as they did in 1966, and declare the Grand Staircase-Escalente area of Utah to be a national monument, even though, the night before, Clinton had lied to the Governor of Utah in a phone conversation about his intention to do this! Now, I ask you, if Clinton would lie to a State Governor, don�t you think he, Al Gore, and everyone else in his administration will lie to YOU? Still don�t believe me? Well, apparently you don�t recall Gore�s call, on April 22nd, Earth Day, for Congress to approve the President�s Lands Legacy initiative and provide permanent funding to "protect" America�s land and coastal resources. If they get away with this, here�s a few places you better not plan on visiting: the Mojave Desert and the Joshua Tree National Parks, vast areas of New England forests, the Everglades in Florida, or a nostalgic trek on the Lewis and Clark Trail along the Missouri River. The effort is to find ways to close them to visitors in order to "protect" them. On November 2nd, Western Republican senators mustered enough guts to finally challenge President Clinton�s directive to "protect" 50 million acres of roadless forests without congressional approval, calling it a "flimflam game" that would prohibit logging or recreation by anyone but hikers. The plan is really to restrict all human use. One thing will insure the reversal of this insanity. It�s the next national election. Forget about those third party candidates. Forget about whoever the Democrats choose. Vote for Republican control of Congress and the White House. That is the only hope to reverse the damage eight years of Clinton-Gore have inflicted on this nation. And don�t tell me Republicans are anti-environment. The EPA came into being during Nixon�s administration. The Prediction Corner When Camille Paglia, liberal feminist, serves you up for ridicule and scorn, as she has done recently, you know you�re in trouble and that is why, once again for the record, I�m predicting that Hillary Clinton will not run for Senator from New York. The first hint was the failure to announce in October, putting it off until after the New Year. It ain�t gonna happen. This is just a twist on investing $1,000 in cattle futures to get $100,00 overnight. I have always felt she never had any real intention of doing so, but saw the non-campaign as yet another opportunity to fleece the idiots who would throw money at her and Bill. This money is going to go to their lawyers to pay their bills and probably to pay off the house in New York so they can eventually move to La-La land on what Rush calls the "Left Coast." Prediction Number Two: The Clinton-Gore Administration has fastened on the hoax of calling the Republican Party "isolationist" and we will hear this Big Lie repeated over and over again. For the record, it was Richard Nixon who opened Red China to the world. It was Ronald Reagan who helped the Soviet Union collapse so it, too, could join the community of nations as something other than a threat to freedom loving people. It was George Bush who led nations in the Persian Gulf war against Iraqi thuggery. The Democratic Party has an isolationist record as long as your arm and has sold its integrity to the biggest liar to ever occupy the Oval Office.
