Dr. Dan Ward

Dr. Dan Sewell Ward is not your typical buttoned-down physicist. Although he
holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from the University of Texas at Austin, as
well as a Bachelor of Engineering Science from the same institution, his
interest in esoteric knowledge has led him to study zero point energy, cold
fusion, sacred geometry, ancient history, hyper-dimensional physics, and
even the enigma of crop circles. Dr. Ward has authored more than 120
technical and semi-technical articles in a variety of scientific journals,
magazines and conference proceedings, and has been conducting research in
diverse scientific disciplines for more than thirty years. Among his
interests are nuclear and elementary particle physics, the science,
economics and politics of alternative energy systems, and the potential of
solar energy. In fact, when he was Associate Director of the Solar Energy
Applications Laboratory and manager for the National Science Foundation, Dr.
Ward secured major funding grants for three experimental solar houses, one
of which is the world's first solar heated and solar cooled home.

Dr. Ward has embraced this idea of science moored in shifting sand and his
innovative thinking frequently pushes the boundaries of conventional
thought.

During his tenure as an associate professor at Colorado State University,
Dr. Ward has also taught Physics and Civil Engineering. An internationally
recognized expert in Solar Energy, Dr. Ward has visited Japan, India,
Brazil, Czechoslovakia, Russia, Canada and various site throughout the
United States. He is President and Chief Scientist of Quantum Genesis,
L.L.C., located in Fort Collins, Colorado. Dr. Ward also enjoys directing
and acting in plays at the local Civic Theatre, writing screenplays, novels,
and articles for the Internet, and considers himself a humorist (he
specializes in puns). Currently Dr. Ward is interested in establishing
Halexandria University, "a college of the InterNet specializing in esoteric,
exoteric and universal knowledge, as well as paradigm shifting realities."

Dr. Ward was invited to the INE symposium to present his revolutionary ideas
on "Inertial Field Theory -- A Radical Change of Pace." Despite his many
accomplishments in academia and the new energy field, Dr. Ward doesn't take
himself too seriously. He took the podium with a smile brimming from ear to
ear to explain that he considers himself "sneaky" when it comes to science
and that he often plays the role of Devil's Advocate to develop critical
thought with both students and colleagues. Dr. Ward's devilish logic became
quickly evident as he began his presentation by saying, "The scientific
method generally consists of assumptions, observations and inferences. What
we tend to forget a lot of the time is the first word, assumptions. When it
comes to the laws of physics, we have theories, which are all based on
assumptions. And quite often, it's in the assumptions where we all go wrong.
Theories are just mathematical approximations of reality. Physicists think
they're getting close, but who knows."

Ward continued by stating, "The key is that experiment and observation
drives physics, not the theory." To bolster his view that the scientific
method is far from perfect Dr. Ward repeated a comment made in 1960 by
physicist William Davis: "The whole structure of science is a cracked and
sagging edifice held together with masking tape and resting on the shifting
sands of constantly changing theory. Nothing is known with any real
certainty, some concepts are just more probable than others. Well-known
theories and even Laws turn out to be partially confirmed hypotheses,
waiting to be replaced by somewhat better partially confirmed hypotheses.
There is one thing we know about every theory in modern physics, is that it
is wrong or at least incomplete. Sooner or later somebody will come along
with a more general theory, in which the old theory seemed to be a special
case. This is not a criticism of science, but merely a description of the
scientific method."

Dr. Ward has embraced this idea of science moored in shifting sand and his
innovative thinking frequently pushes the boundaries of conventional
thought. His radical Inertial Field Theory is a new concept utilizing an
extension of classical mechanics and electrodynamics. Inertial Field
Technologies (IFT) are based on work done in the early 1960s by pioneers in
the field such as William Davis, G. Harry Stine, and others. The very
significant research by these investigators has, inexplicably, never been
pursued by mainstream scientific research. However, in the last several
years considerable strides in extending this early work have been made both
experimentally and theoretically by the author and his associates in the
field of IFT and the results have been remarkable. Of particular interest is
the possibility that a vast array of physical phenomena, including
everything from sonoluminescence to superconductivity to basic principles of
physics, can be incorporated into a single "SuperNewtonian Mechanics." These
theories and implications for applications of the technology to the Quantum
Genesis Inertial Field Electrical Generator are briefly touched upon in
Ward's abstract and paper.

This establishment of a fundamental inertial field has enormous theoretical
and profoundly practical implications. According to Ward, the assumptions
underlying Newton's Laws of Mechanics and the analogous Kirchhoff's Laws in
Electromagnetic circuits are shown to be invalid in non-simultaneous events.
In order to circumvent this difficulty or shortfall of classical theory, the
traditional classical equations are extended by the addition of a
third-order differential term to both the basic equations of mechanics and
electromagnetism. His theory is shown to have several profound implications.
When compared to the classic one way energy transfer from a circuit to the
universe , implementing the third-order term implies a "one way energy
transfer from the universe to a circuit" and that transfer from a mechanical
system or electrical circuit. Implementing the third-order term implies a
"one way energy transfer from the universe to the mechanical system and/or
electrical circuit" and that when coupled with "large values of the rate of
change of acceleration (the 'radical change of pace')," it ends up that the
universe itself contributes significant amounts of energy to the system,
which is no-longer "closed."

Of particular importance is the ability of Inertial Field Theory to direct
researchers simultaneously toward over-unity energy systems and propulsions
systems that do not require reaction mass. The latter is significant in that
it transcends so-called "anti-gravity" systems in that a gravity field (such
as the Earth's) may not be required in order to achieve significant
propulsive thrust. In terms of an energy system, there is no fuel of any
kind to burn and thus there is no waste product. Instead, by the "simple"
expedient of tweaking the rest of the universe in a clever way, unlimited
amounts of energy may be obtained. Dr. Ward expects breakthroughs in both a
"fuel-less" energy system and in a "reactionless mass propulsion system." He
also believes that manned travel to Mars will be possible within a decade.
