Subject: [LIFE-GAZETTE] City of God...What Would It Be Like?
>Dear Frontline:
>
> I watched your program on "How I Learned to love the
Apocalypse and Stop Worrying."
>Certainly people like Hagee love the Apocalypse as it makes a lot of money
for them. Perhaps Governments could get in on the business and run a lottery
on the time and date of the Apocalypse in order to balance their budgets.
> Pardon my sarcasm but your web site does invite feedback and of course
you are welcome to post this reply with the others on http://www.pbs.org.
More importantly though I would appreciate it if you would ask the "experts"
out there for their reply to my question which is "What would a CITY OF GOD
be like if built now on this planet?" During your two hour program you
referred to the work of St. Augustine on the "City of God" as an entity
built up in heaven by the True Church. However, if I remember my graduate
course in psch history correctly, Augustine was more than a reclusive
Churchocrat. He was also a Roman Administrator in North Africa (perhaps in
what is called Libya today) when the Old Empire was collapsing and the
barbarians were invading. Thus he had to apply what he knew of that City of
God to daily affairs.
> If there is only one Believer in that City of God left in a barbarian
culture/society/nation then you aren't going to get the full expression of
what we usually call a "city" or complete culture or civilization or
society. That one believer is still obliged to live as Godly a lifestyle as
possible under such circumstances. However, if Augustine had had the
opportunity and resources he would have built an entire city/culture/nation
according to the design of that City of God or as close to it as fallible
humans can come. In fact that is what happened in the centuries after
Augustine. Dozens of professedly Godly Societies calling themselves
Christian, Muslim and Jewish developed around the Mediterranean. Some of
those societies may have been better expressions of a "City of God" than
others. Some may have been utter failures in that respect. However, the
attempt is necessary as "Faith without works is dead."
> All through that time of developing "Godly Societies" as people
understood this collective manifestation of God's grace in this world, there
have been many doom-sayers and that is how your show brought in the
teachings of Augustine. That is, humankind's obligation is to practice a
Godly lifestyle, individually and collectively, subjectively and
objectively, spiritually and materially....irrespective of what is happening
in this world. If the sky is falling we are still obligated to practice the
teachings of a City of God. Putting all that together we would have a City
of God manifested on earth if there are those on this planet who understand
what it is. Are there? That is my question to your experts.
> If people like John Hagee and Jerry Falwell (who appeared briefly on
your show) were honest they would admit that interpreting highly symbolic
prophetic sections of Scripture is a difficult task fraught with the
possibility of error. By contrast, O' how dogmatically certain they are!
Then they flee the light of truth which would come from Internet interaction
and discussion like cockroaches flee the light. Try a Yahoo search on them
and see what you get. Like their performances on television their web sites
are a one way street for the "pitch" and the other way all that is supposed
to happen is the flow of money into their coffers.
> I read on Pat Roberston's http://www.cbn.org that "Pat Answers Your
Email Questions". This is part of the lie-for-profit which is practiced by
people like Roberston, Falwell, Dobson, Hagee, Van Impe, Grahams (now with a
Junior Liar as well as a Senior Liar) etc. etc. Pat Robertson wrote to me
ca. 1990 and personally signed the letter to say that even if it guaranteed
him the US Presidency in 2000 AD, he would not want to plan a City of God on
this earth. (You will recall that he had sought the Presidency in an earlier
campaign). But I'm not singling out Pat Robertson. This is a cabal of
criminal racketeers exploiting the US public in contravention of RICO Laws
(Racketeering in Corrupt Organizations) and defiling the teachings of God.
> If they were competent they would be able to tell you about a City of
God as surely as a competent dentist would tell you about a healthy tooth
vs. an unhealthy tooth. So ask them. And ask Vatican while you are at it.
Thus I think the point on your show that the anti-Christ might well come
from within Churchianity is well taken. Here we have a multitude of
anti-Christs. If they are pro-Christ it is easy to prove it. Just tell us
what a Christopolis or City of God is like. Alas, they are just men of
"great swelling words" or "words as shallow as sounding brass".
> My question is far more than an "academic exercise". The MP's above are
all vitally interested in an answer. Canada is "founded upon principles that
recognize the supremacy of God" by Constitution.
>When Svend Robinson introduced a petition to Parliament to have the word
God taken out of the Constitution, Elsie Wayne, MP said "Over my dead body".
Alexa McDonough, Robinson's boss banished him to the back seats of
Parliament. Randy White chimed in with his two cents worth.
>Dennis Mills sent me over 60 pages of House of Commons speeches from 1981
on the topic of "God in the Constitution" and Don Boudria wrote to say that
in reply to my question we should ask the experts, ie the religionists.
During the 1981 debates, Bob Wenman, MP used the phrase "Godly Society" and
by the late 1980's the seniormost Roman Catholic cleric in Canada, Cardinal
Emmett Carter presented a Citizen's Brief to Parliament to say that Canada
had become a "Lawless Society". ie a "Godless Society". Not to be outdone we
read in BC Christian News that Raymond Chan, MP attends the Church of Zion.
Well, Zionism has to do with building a real, living Godly Society on this
earth for God's Chosen People. Can Mr. Chan tell us what a City of God would
be like? And the same newspaper tells us how "faith and strong conviction"
motivates Vancouver Mayor Owen. Perhaps Mayor Owen could tell us what a
Village of God would be like at the False Creek Project in Vancouver (see
URL below). We can put so many Villages of God together to get a City of
God.
> That is where we stand today. Chretien, Manning and other lying,
hypocritical God-hating politicians lead Canada straight into hell by
opening the doors to barbarians from the four corners of the earth in the
name of "Multiculturalism" without knowing or caring what a Godly Society
would be like. Filthy child-murdering, sodomite-loving Christ haters and
their boot lickers abound in the halls of political power. It was former
Deputy Prime Minister Nielsen who wrote the book, "The House Is Not A Home".
He opens the book with a Wicks cartoon identifying Parliament as a Den of
Liars as well as a Whorehouse (which is the allusion of the title). How
prophetic! "Babylon the Whore" is right here in Canada and fully represented
on Parliament Hill. Where then are the answers to the question of what a
City of God might be like? Are the self-professed experts all racketeers in
corrupt organizations? Given that these self-professed experts do not know,
I have to conclude that they are practicing fraud against God and man and I
would urge any prosecuting attorney to take action. States-side it is easier
to do this as RICO laws are in place and are being used with greater
frequency against religious fraudsters and criminals. And as for answering
the question above, given that the experts are liars let's ask the amateurs
by the best communication system available today for that purpose, the
Internet.
