Walking is still for free. But of course where you can go is proscribed. But
when hasn't it been? Even here in Australia in prior to the British
invasion/settlement (take your pick) the Aborigines couldn't walk where they
pleased. There were areas off-limits to you according to various traditions
imposed, not to mention that trespassing on the territory of your neighbours
was a potentially fatal no-no. Humans have always been territorial. You will
not find a time when they weren't.

The point was, contrary to Nessie's ramblings, that you can still go from A
to B under your own power without paying anybody for the very act moving your
legs in whatever direction you take.
