During his time there, he was singled out over a dozen times for the unusual popularity on that station, in such publications as USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The Austin American Statesman and countless others. He was recently awarded "Best of Austin 1999" (radio host) in the Austin Chronicle�s Reader�s Poll, and was endorsed by the writer of the article for being right about the Delta Force in Waco. Eleven weeks prior to his termination, he was called into a closed door meeting with KJFK suits and a consultant. The consultant told him to "Lay off, stop bashing Clinton � or you won�t have a place here (at KJFK). " He was also told, in the General Manager�s office several days later, to stop promoting the rebuilding of the Branch Davidian church in Waco on the station. About four weeks later, as Alex recalls, he was talking to the General Manager in the hall. He was openly and loudly advised to stop talking about the U.S. Marine Corps urban warfare training exercises in front of several staff members. The General Manager referred to the marines as "his marines." The General Manager is an ex-marine. Despite the fact that he was told to stop talking about the accelerating police state, the rebuilding of the church in Waco (and the murders of the innocent people by special forces) and the unconstitutional acts of President Clinton, Jones pressed on. He maintained the format and the integrity of his program, presented documented facts and his analysis. Jones says he was confused that the station was angry, as he gained himself and the station national media attention, over the Associated Press, on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Extra," "Hard Copy," and C-Span. Jones, who is nationally syndicated to multiple AM and FM stations across the country over the Genesis Communications Network, can still be heard in Austin over the Internet from his web site http://www.infowars.com/ from 11AM to 2PM central. He will continue his television programs in Austin and his documentary filmmaking.
