Perhaps the Battle in Seattle was staged as an object lesson.
WorldNet recently reported what were porported to be quotes from the FEMA
Y2K training manual. It said, among other things, that by federal
estimates they have the resources to respond to simultaneous disasters in
56 seperate cities. I haven't counted them but I'm fairly certain that
there are more than 56 cities. Then there are all those small towns. It is
physically impossible for the feds to impliment martial everywhere it
wants to.
Twenty-five hundred years ago in his classic text -The Art of War- Sun Tzu
said,"Kill one scare ten. Kill ten scare a hundred." It worked then. It
works now. A show of strength just before Y2K would be a wise and prudent
tactic. It's certainly what I'd do if I were them. It was also both good
practice and a jim dandy laboratory experiment.
Both sides are actively engaged in analysis of the results at this very
moment. One side, though small, has a unified command structure and
superior weapons technology. The other side is disorganized and fractous.
Many members hate each other. But there are an awful lot of them and they
represent the broadest concievable demographic in America. EVERYBODY hates
the WHO. Ralph Nader and Pat Buchanan hate the WTO. Homophobes and gays
marched down the same street for the same reason on the same day. How
often does that happen? Racists and anti-racists, feminists and
right-to-lifers, athiests and priests all got gassed and beaten together.
Some each of everybody in America showed up and the feds got to pratice
dealing with all of them. Every concievable type of people, of all ages,
of all races, and of every persuasion, both political and otherwise showed
up. What an ideal laboratory situation for FEMA. They now have a really
good idea of what each of these, and all the other demographic groupings
drawn to Seattle, will do in a martial law situation.
So I think the event was staged. After all, they could just as easily have
met in Bora Bora and told us about it when it was all over. Instead they
chose to meet in Seattle, a month before Y2K. Why?
Perhaps a familiarity with the roots of FEMA and the militarization of
political repression would help to clarify what happened in Seattle. So
