The role of the state headed by "The UFOlogist Formerly Known as The Prince" (Hans Adam II, partial funder of the MIT "alien abduction" conference and funder of the final portion of the "Witnesses to Roswell" videotape done by the Fund for UFO Research, then headed by the navy's Bruce Maccabee) is included in reports of Swiss banks "hoarding" (to the present day) gold and other resources taken from Jews fleeing Hitler and the Third Reich. This is but one of the links to former sympathizers of Hitler's "pre-Holocaust" philosophies and UFOlogy, and should be considered by historians of "UFO beliefs" in contexts including the Nazi scientist importation to the US (Project Paperclip), and the role of "right wing" Americans and militarists in the earliest allegations of "government cover-up" of UFO sightings and associated phenomena. "The Day After Roswell" author, the late Col. Philip Corso, was a senior officer in Army Intelligence at the time. Corso figured in the stories about American POWs having been spirited to the Soviet Union during the Korean Conflict, where they allegedly were subjected to various biological and psychological "destructive testings" by the Soviets, such tests always being fatal. Corso resurfaced on this issue in the early 1990s, when it was publicly revealed. It came out as Congressional and White House interests were pursuing similar and even more bizarre experiments allegedly done against Vietcong captives in the hands of South Vietnamese forces "advised" by American intelligence forces, as investigators were probing whether (and how many) our Vietnam-era POWs may have likewise been sent to the Soviet Union for experimental "deconstruction." It is difficult for the US to take a "moral high ground" position on that aspect of the POW and MIA issues, given widely published reports of our own "excesses" and human rights violations in the same conflict. Disclosures of activities sure to anger most if not all of the American electorate, just when "normalization" of relations and trade with Vietnam are in their infancy, were deemed not in the best interest of "policy." That's why some very good researchers are following "UFOs and other cover-ops," in these contexts. I am privileged to know them and have their permission to share a little of what they are looking for (and finding!), beneath the "alien veils" and "ETs." That does not suggest, however, that I or they discard any objective "reality" to the underlying source phenomena we generically term "UFOs." There is ample if not widely available documentation of the role "UFOs" and "Aryans from the Stars" belief-systems played in the development of terrestrial governance policies laid on by the eventual Nazi and SS high commands, as promoted by earlier philosophical and political backers of Hitler's rise to power. Remember, Adolf "worked" for someone! In this country, one area we are pursuing "out of curiosity" are the pre-World War II pronouncements of aviation hero Charles A. Lindbergh, whose one-time "special assistant," Marine Corps aviator Maj. Donald Keyhoe, was the founder of NICAP, the "National Investigations Committee for Aerial Phenomena." Keyhoe's descendants in "UFOlogy" formed the core of the Fund for UFO Research and Hynek's Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS), and the "alien conspiracy" theories cast as part of some New World Order leftist plot to take over human consciousness continue to appear in right-wing and "militia patriot" contexts, including in Soldier of Fortune magazine and in the afore-mentioned "UFO pulp" products done by Timothy Green Beckley. That is why it's so bizarre to see cultural Jews of the caliber of Sarfatti and Einhorn buying in to the whole "UFOlogical" enchilada. HIGGINS .c The Associated Press BERN, Switzerland (AP) - Switzerland closed its borders to Jews fleeing Nazi Germany just as it became known that Hitler was implementing his infamous ``final solution,'' a new report based on unprecedented access to Swiss archives says Friday. News had spread to Switzerland and other countries after Germany launched a campaign of mass murders in 1941 that was to kill 6 million Jews, 100,000 Gypsies and others, the report said. ``It was widely known after the summer of 1942 at the latest that refugees who had been turned away would almost certainly be deported and killed,'' said the international panel's 956-page study. ``Nevertheless, thousands were sent to their deaths.'' The nine-member panel spent 18 months preparing the report, the most definitive yet on the neutral country's wartime treatment of refugees. The U.S. State Department commended Switzerland on its willingness to look honestly at its past. ``This effort has surely made Switzerland stronger,'' the State Department said in a statement released in Washington. The study ``should serve as an example to others, not least the United States, whose own record on refugee acceptance was not enviable. '' Elan Steinberg, executive director of the World Jewish Congress, praised the report as ``a landmark event in Swiss and European history'' and called it ``an example for other European nations to follow.'' The World Jewish Congress has been a prime force in getting the Swiss to re-examine their past and pay compensation to Holocaust victims and their heirs for accounts left dormant in Swiss banks. The report said one 19-year-old Jew identified as ``Leo H.'' entered Geneva from France in August 1942 with 40 pieces of gold and a watch. Military police took his valuables and expelled him. Weeks later, he managed to re-enter Switzerland. Officials assured him he would not be expelled again, so he filed for the return of his property - and was immediately arrested. Military police beat him and pushed him back into France, keeping everything he had. In October, he was back at the border. Once again, he was turned away. The panel, led by Swiss historian Jean-Francois Bergier, said new material included more details on the notorious ``J'' stamp that Germans put in Jewish passports starting in 1938 to tip off the Swiss. But the panel said it was unclear whether the idea came from the Germans or the Swiss. The Swiss government, which already has apologized to Jews for the World War II policies, said Friday, ``Nothing can make good the consequences of decisions taken at the time.'' ``We pay our respects before the pain of those who were denied access to our territory and were abandoned to unspeakable suffering, deportation and death,'' it said. But a Cabinet statement said the historians gave too little weight to Switzerland's wartime situation as an isolated country of 4 million. The historians acknowledged that Switzerland was surrounded by German forces during the war and that fear of food shortages and Nazi invasion were widespread, but said there was no indication ``that opening the border might have provoked an invasion by the Axis or cause insurmountable economic difficulties.'' The historians said Switzerland did save 21,000 Jews, including many who sneaked into the country and were allowed to remain. More than 24,000 refugees who reached Switzerland were sent back. It is impossible to tell how many did not try to leave Nazi-controlled territory because they heard of Switzerland's policies or were refused visas. The report told of two Jewish Dutch brothers, Max and Frederic Z., who were picked up in Geneva. The same officers who beat Leo H. expelled them to France, the report said. ``We lay there at the Swiss border, under the eyes of the German customs officials, robbed, beaten and emaciated, without clothing, food, money or papers,'' the brothers told the Dutch Legation in Bern. ``Under a hail of gunfire from the Germans, the brothers crawled to the next Swiss border post,'' the report said. ``There, too, they were turned away.'' The police officers were punished, with the most brutal officer receiving a three-year prison term, the historians said. The panel refused to compare Switzerland with other countries but noted that the United States and many nations that might have done more to help refugees also failed to do so. But Saul Friedlaender, the Israeli member of the panel, said other neutral countries such as Spain and Portugal took in ``very many'' refugees in comparison. The report did praise individual officials for helping Jews and noted that Swiss people rose up in anger when they learned Jewish refugees who had crossed the border were being sent back. The historians did debunk one accusation against the Swiss, saying that Jews from Italy and France were not deported through Switzerland en route to Nazi extermination camps.
