TIME MAG BOMBSHELL: COLUMBINE KILLERS HOME VIDEOS REVEALED, TELL WHY THEY
DID IT; RAGE AND FAME, HOPED SPIELBERG OR TARANTINO WOULD MAKE MOVIE
"I hope we kill 250 of you," Columbine High killer Dylan Klebold says
excitedly on a secret home video viewed by TIME Magazine. "It's going to be
like f__ Doom," Eric Harris says. "Tick. Tick. Tick. Haaa!... That f___
shotgun is straight out of Doom!"
According to publishing sources, TIME magazine is set to unleash a
blockbuster 20-page exclusive report, featuring details from 5 hours of home
videos made by the two killers, in their parents' basement!
In the course of a six-week TIME investigation, correspondent Tim Roche was
given access to secret videos Klebold and Harris made in the weeks before
the April 20 massacre at Columbine High School.
TIME was allowed to view them and transcribe them. But not to keep them or
show them.
In one tape, Harris picks up a shotgun and said, "Isn't it fun to get the
respect that we're going to deserve?"

The secret videotapes debunk previous press theories about the motivation
for the slaughter -- and show the killers were more interested in Tarantino
than Hitler!
The boys discussed how they wanted movies made of their story, which they
had carefully laced with "a lot of foreshadowing and dramatic irony," as
Harris put it.
The two discussed who could be trusted with the script, "Steven Spielberg"
or "Quentin Tarantino."
"Directors will be fighting over this story," Klebold said one of the
videos.

There are no mentions of targeting victims by race on the tapes, according
to publishing sources.

* On a video made the morning of the massacre -- the only video Klebold's
parents have seen; the Harrises have seen none of them -- Klebold says, "I
didn't like life very much...Just know that I'm going to a better place than
here." Harris says, "I know my mom and dad will be in shock and disbelief."
Klebold interrupts, "It's what we had to do."
*Remorse: Throughout the videos, about the only people for whom Harris or
Klebold expressed remorse were their parents. "It f__ sucks to do this to
them," Harris said. "There's nothing you guys could have done to prevent
this." Klebold told his mom and dad they have been "great parents" and added
"I'm sorry I have so much rage." Harris at one point explained why he had
become distant: "I don't want to spend any more time with them," he said of
his parents. "I wish they were out of town so I didn't have to look at them
and bond with them more."
*Anger: Harris recalled moving around with his military family and starting
over "at the bottom of the ladder" with people making fun of "my face, my
hair, my shirts." Klebold said, "If you could see all the anger I've stored
over the past four f___ years..." He spoke of his popular brother Byron
"ripping" on him and said that except for his parents, his extended family
treated him like the runt of the litter. "You made me what I am," he said.
"You added to the rage."
*Intent: On one video, Harris said, "We're going to kick-start a revolution"
of the dispossessed. He said they would haunt the survivors and "create
flashbacks from what we do," Harris promised, "and drive them insane."
*What their parents would say: In one video Harris said was recorded 1:28
a.m. March 15, Klebold sat in a La-Z-Boy, and Harris sat with a bottle of
Jack Daniels and a sawed-off shotgun in his lap. Klebold talked about what
his parents would be thinking after watching the tape. "If only we could
have reached them sooner or found this tape," he predicts they will say. "If
only we would have searched their room," adds Harris. "If only we would have
asked the right questions."
*They wanted to be seen as originals: "Do not think we're trying to copy
anyone" Harris warns. After school shootings in Oregon and Kentucky, Harris
said they had the idea long ago, "before the first one ever happened."
*Anticipating the day: Klebold said he expected the most "nerve-wracking
fifteen minutes of my life, after the bombs are set and we're waiting to
charge through the school. Seconds will be like hours. I can't wait. I'll be
shaking like a leaf."
*Close calls with parents: An employee of Green Mountain Guns called
Harris's house to say "your clips are in" and Harris's father replied he
hadn't ordered any clips. If either had asked whether the clerk had dialed
the right number, says Harris, "we would've been f___." Klebold added, "We
wouldn't be able to do what we're going to do."
Klebold recounts for the camera the time his parents walked in on him when
he was trying on his black leather trench coat, with his sawed-off shotgun
hidden underneath. "They didn't even know it was there." Harris recalled his
mother saw him with a gun handle sticking out of the zipper of his gym bag.
She assumed it was his BB gun.
*Hiding their intentions at school: "I could convince them that I'm going to
climb Mount Everest, or that I have a twin brother growing out of my back,"
Harris said. "I can make you believe anything."
*A final message: As well as saying good-bye to their parents in a last
video suicide message, Harris willed to a girl an album called Bombthreat
Before She Blows.

TIME's story, editor Walter Isaacson writes in his letter to readers, "is
not so much about kids seeking glory as it is about grownups not looking and
seeing, about people who preferred to sugarcoat rather than confront
reality."
He asks that before making a judgment on TIME's investigation, people should
read TIME's stories.
"I hope you will agree that they provide a new level of insight into what
happened at Columbine," Isaacson writes. "You will also learn how the
parents in that community have tried to find ways to help others avoid a
similar tragedy."
TIME opted not have any official TV tie in for its exclusive report, the
DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
TIME's Tim Roche will report on the tapes he heard in a seg on Sunday
night's TIME/CNN NEWSSTAND. The writer of the story, redhot Nancy Gibbs, is
set to do the TODAY SHOW on NBC Monday morning. Katie Couric will feature
the TIME exclusive twice on the show, according to industry sources.
