I just got off the cell phone with my wife. We own a house in
San
Clemente that was just sold. Escrow doesn't close until after the
CDC, so she went down to water the yard. While she was there
she
decided to make a run to Mexico and pick up some more
antibiotics and
prescription drugs for our preps.
The main point is that her cousin is a civilian construction
worker in
San Diego. He tells her that he is building "barracks" on San
Clemente Island. For those of you who don't know, San Clemente
Island
is used for bombing practice by the Marine Corps. He says that
they
have stopped bombing there and he has been contracted to build
quite a
few barracks on the island.
He says that they are also building a number of new barracks near
Camp
Pendleton.
This sent up red flags for me because San Clemente Island is
not a
practical location to house marines. It is much to far from the
mainland. In addition, I can't imagine them building new wooden
barracks at Pendleton, especially since the size of the military is
getting smaller not larger.
What makes more sense is that these may well be detention
centers.
The
contract is a rush job. He and his crew are flown out to the island,
where they stay for a week and then flown home on weekends.
Anyone else heard anything about this?
