Basically I guess the America I knew as a school child and during World War
II. I remember with great sorrow the country that made us feel so proud.
We were a free people then. Our cities were wonderful places where those who
actually lived were able to partake of every kind of entertainment either
completely free of charge or for very minimal fees. Our rights were
guaranteed by the constitution and the courts. The police were people we
turned to for assistance. You couldn't step out of doors no matter where you
lived without hearing bird sounds. Perhaps our main problem was our naivete.
We thought that our efforts added to the efforts of everyone else who was
sane and sensible would make the world a better place to live in. Somewhere
along the way, greed became the creed, and all we can be proud of now is how
high the market is. What a bummer. Prudy
