I've always accepted as "fundamentalist" anyone who believes in the most
basic of whatever tenets. Supposedly fundamentalist Christians believe in
strict translation of the Bible and strict adherence to that translation.
When people speak of fundamentalist Moslems; however, they tend to be
speaking of the Taliban types, and the Taliban obviously have no interest in
the Koran and its teachings at all. Nothing they do is in adherence to the
teachings of Mohammad. They've made it all up, so your definition is
obviously most correct when one considers modern usage of the term. Oxford
and Webster are both striking out. Prudy
