Well, Owl, what do you think of Mr. Hurwitz? Did you ever read "Silent
Spring"? It's gotten so that almost all the seasons are silent now. And
Rachel Carlson only had the nerve to publish when she knew she was dying. I
heard someone from the Olin group badmouthing her on television a few years
ago. He insisted that this woman had no credentials or education. I can
hardly stand to think about what has been done to this poor earth in the last
fifty-five years, and I know my species is to blame. Perhaps that's how it
is supposed to be. The biggest pig at the trough gets it all. I just can't
get comfortable with that idea. If we were to husband the earth, we've done
a darned poor job. Prudy
