Following the same course that virtually every other major industry has
in the last two decades, a relentless series of mergers and corporate
takeovers has consolidated control of the media into the hands of a few
corporate behemoths. The result has been that an increasingly
authoritarian agenda has been sold to the American people by a massive,
multi-tentacled media machine that has become, for all intents and
purposes, a propaganda organ of the state.
--Dave McGowan, from the introduction to Derailing Democracy

The Central Intelligence Agency owns everyone of any significance in the
major media.
--Former CIA Director William Colby

"I know of no country in which there is so little independence of mind and
real freedom of discussion as in America."
--Alexis de Tocqueville (18051859)

Greetings,

Were back! As we explained in last weeks email, we have so many irons in
the fire that Greg just cant keep serving up the rich and thick content
he was creating in the fall. And thats good newsgreat things are in
store for CCPs future. So, for the Spring well be dishing out an a la
carte offering of facts, quotes and other juicy tidbits to further our
mission of countering the corporate spin with some true political literacy.

Most of the material we use will be from David McGowans new book,
Derailing Democracy (www.commoncouragepress.com/mcgowan_derailing.html).
David has put together a mind-altering compilation of just the sort of
stuff They dont want you to know about.

You can also expect a smattering of other stuff: cartoons, guest
commentaries, links to interesting web sites, and mentions of interesting
and important events.

The more the merrier, of course, so please do forward these to your
friends and associates. Last Fall, our list grew to over 3700 subscribers
in just a few months. All of the material is archived, so don't sweat if
you missed any. Find it by going to:
http://www.commoncouragepress.com/course.html . More information about
subscribing and unsubscribing appears below.

Best,

David Wainberg
