These creatures can "evolve" in software as you, Mr. Manley, know very well. Indeed, entire intelligent villages and cities can evolve in software. Mind you, there is always the spectre of Bill Joy's "nanophobia". Microscopic "gremlins" instead of "leprechauns" gobbling up everything in site. So how about some legislation? By the time Helpmate gets the Homemate model to NASA, I wonder where the competition will be? Would those genetic algorithms Kurweil rates so highly in his 1999 book be useful? If skilled mechanics and programmers worked together on it I would think the robot could be made even more anthropomorphic than the Honda Humanoids. Could be fun if you relax the size parameter. Another way to approach nanotechnology. "Shrinking the robot" (I have this thing about "Leprechauns").
