Subject: Fwd: IT'S TIME TO CHOOSE!

Dear Serbian Friends,

I want to apologize in advance to those of you who may
chastize me for getting too political in this message. To you I
say, if we had paid more attention in the first place to which
politicians we put in office we might have avoided the tragedy
that has befallen the Serbian people.

On March 25 of this year, my husband George and I attended
the Reform Party of Virginia convention. The main speaker
was Pat Buchanan.

I am bringing this up because a friend who was in attendance
asked, "Where are the Serbs? There should be Serbs here!" I
couldn't have agreed with him more.

Early immigrants to America of Greek and Serbian descent,
as well as others of the Eastern Orthodox faith, traditionally
belonged to the Democrat Party. They believed that the
Democrats were for “the people.” Today, many of those people
and their descendants have become Republicans as times
and perceptions of party goals have changed. However, many
people, such as my husband and I, are deeply concerned
about the role of both political parties in the disgraceful and
illegal war our country waged against Yugoslavia and the
Serbian people.

Although we are not Serbian, we have common cause with our
Serbian Orthodox brothers and sisters, we see the future
danger to Greece, we see our country moving toward conflict
with the Russians and we see the sovereignty of our nation
being sold to the highest bidder for the sake of “the bottom
line” and the New World Order.

The time came when we asked ourselves who, and which
party, shares our concerns. The answer was discouraging:
Neither of the major parties. While Clinton, Albright and
Wesley Clark were illegally destroying Serbia, the leaders of
the Republican Party were either supporting them or standing
back without protest.

Now we are in the campaign to decide who will be the next
President of the United States. Will the person you support
reverse what has been happening in the Balkans, or will he
continue the current policies?

Just as my husband and I made a choice, you must now
make a choice also. We look upon ourselves as “recovering
Republicans.” It was a tough decision but we have made a
commitment to (1) get the Reform Party on the ballot and in
the Presidential Debates, and (2) get Pat Buchanan elected
as President of the United States. We can’t do that unless
you join us. If you truly believe in your hearts that you want
justice for the Serbian people, the ONLY candidate who has
had the courage to speak of the injustices being committed
against them and of their suffering is Pat Buchanan.

The candidates for the Democrat and Republican Parties, Al
Gore and George “Dubya” Bush supported US-led NATO
bombing of the Serbian people. Both parties believe that
sanctions should be continued even after Slobodan Milosevic
is removed from office, voluntarily or involuntarily. Leaders of
both parties want to continue punishing the Serbian people
claiming that Serbs have relinquished any rights to govern
Kosovo because of alleged atrocities perpetrated against
ethnic Albanians.

For those Serbs who belong to the Democratic Party, you
have been betrayed.

For those Serbs who belong to the Republican Party, you
have been betrayed.

You owe neither of these parties any loyalty. I feel the same
as an American of Greek descent because I know that both
Gore and Bush are pro-Turkish and when the time comes,
both parties will sell the Greeks out just as they did the
Serbian people.

The choice is now yours. Do you want the Serbian people to
continue to be punished by both parties, or do you want a
candidate who owes loyalty to the American people, who
won’t send our young soldiers into illegal or Quixotic
misadventures in quest of global hegemony by the New World
Order?

Do you want a candidate in the Presidential Debates who will
question our disastrous foreign policy, or do you want to hear
back and forth accusations about who is or isn’t issuing
“attack ads.” Isn’t it time for the American people to have a
better choice than Tweedle Dumb or Tweedle Dumber?
Remember, when you vote for the lesser of two evils, you still
get EVIL!

Don’t listen to the spin artists who say, “Don’t throw away
your vote. He can’t win,” or, for you Republicans, “Your vote
will benefit Gore.” Remember, about fifty percent of the eligible
voters don’t vote. Many are disinterested; many are
disillusioned with the system. Many believe that the
differences between the two major parties are only superficial
and matters of degree; they're really two wings of the same
bird.

The Reform Party offers a different choice. If Buchanan can
tap into that fifty percent of non-voters along with what he
takes from both the Democrats and Republicans, he may
surprise the nay-sayers, just as Ventura did in Minnesota. In
any case, it comes down to supporting the candidate who
best represents your beliefs, values and interests.

Pat Buchanan is on the right side of the Kosovo issue not
because he’s pro-Serbian; it’s because he’s pro-American and
pro-justice and because he understands foreign policy and the
role America should play in the world. He believes that the
American military’s job is to defend this country and its
interests, not be the muscle for the New World Order. His
opponents know only what their handlers tell them or what
they think will play well in the polls.

In 1995, Pat Buchanan wrote a letter to every Senator which
said: “In my judgment, the U.S. is making a mistake in
intervening and taking sides in a [Bosnian] civil war....[it is]
1914 all over again! – this is what we are inviting.” If only they
had listened.

Few people actually realize just how close we came to World
War III when General Wesley Clark ordered British forces to
bomb Russian troops who had entered Pristina first.
Thankfully, British General Michael Jackson refused the order
and remarked, “I’m not going to start WWIII for you!”

For your information, I personally handed Pat my article, “An
Open Letter to General Michael Short,” just before he was to
give a speech in Afton, Virginia. Less than thirty minutes later,
in a speech to the Virginia Reform Party, Pat referenced my
letter.

If you have any doubts where Pat stands regarding Serbia,
please read the following excerpts from Pat Buchanan’s
“Toward a More Moral Foreign Policy.”

-----------

Toward a More Moral Foreign Policy
by Patrick J. Buchanan

After smashing Serbia with our 78-day bombing campaign, we
now quarrel with our NATO allies over how severe sanctions
should be. The Clinton-Albright preference is to block all
assistance in removing toxic war debris and bombed bridges
from the Danube, and to deny the Serbs heating oil in coming
the brutal Balkan winter.

This immoral policy shames us as a people. We are putting
old men, women, and children under a sentence of death for
failing to do what NATO itself could not do: overthrow
Slobodan Milosevic? Moreover, as the London Economist
writes:

“Isolation has helped [Milosevic and Saddam] to stoke
paranoia, justify repression and escape responsibility for their
people's suffering. In Iraq, and to a lesser extent in Serbia,
sanctions have ruined the liberal middle class and spawned
gangster elites. The poor, meanwhile, cannot think beyond the
struggle to keep alive....”

Among my first acts as President will be to declare an end to
all sanctions on the sale or transfer of U.S. food, medicine, or
goods essential to a decent life or a civilian economy now in
force against Cuba, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Myanmar,
Sudan, and all the other targeted nations of U.S. sanctions
policy.

I count myself a patriot. But if all this Beltway braying about
our being the "world's indispensable nation" and "only
superpower" grates on my ears, how must it grate upon
Europeans, Russians, and those peoples subject to U.S.
sanctions, because they have failed by our lights to live up to
our standards? ... Once again, it’s time to choose.

Now, it’s your turn to choose. Contact your state Reform
Party representative whose name and email can be found on
the following websites:
http://www.buchanan.org
http://www.buchananreform.org

Once there, click on "contacts" or "network" to find the
contact in your state. Get involved. The campaign needs help
in petition drives to get on the ballot in all 50 states.

After you’ve found the contact for your state, click on “Return
to Home Page” to get all the latest news about the candidate.

Also, write to your representatives in Congress and demand
the Reform Party candidate, whose campaign is being
financed by your tax dollars, be part of the Presidential
Debates. Our future, the future of our children and the future of
our country may depend on what you do this year.

Yours truly, and your friend,
