I might suggest consulting George Carlin on this one. He seems to have done
some extensive research on the various uses and meanings of the word in its
myriad contextual senses. Given George's history and grammar perspective is
mostly devoted to utilisation in speech, such terms tend to lose quite a bit of
their meaning when put merely in print, virtual or physical. It becomes less a
matter of judging one against another than it is to just casually use terms and
words thereby making them superfluous. Leaving such terms out of public view
(keeping them private, i.e.) is elimination in and of itself, avoiding
unnecessary material waste and time as well as what is meant.
