I am all for heterosexuals in charge of state workers but it does look to me that the proximate cause of this firing was failure to follow orders - insubordination.  Phillips did something he was told not to do.  Better, I think, to register complaint with Congress after asking the supervisor the basis for his/her opinion.  But, then again, I don't suspect a conspiracy in this incident.  Sigh.   "Kids in the foster care system are at their most vulnerable stage. They are very needy, often already abused victims of sexual and physical abuse, crying out for help, wanting a mom and dad. I had a child, age 9, beg me to get her out of the home of a lesbian. She was very afraid. As a result of that interview with her, I was called into my direct supervisor's office and told not to register that in my report. I registered it anyway. Eventually the girl got out of that situation," Phillips said.
