Welcome to Quatloos!
-- Financial Scams & Frauds Exposed --
What are Quatloos? That's easy -- Six Koos make a Quatloo, and Eight Quatloos
make a Mooloo. So what are Koos and Mooloos? Well, every Koos is worth Four
Plocks, and if you get Sixteen Mooloos together you can trade them for a
Znoos.
O.K., you get the picture. Quatloos don't really exist. They are largely
spoken of in Internet Newsgroups in response to advertisements by spammers
and scam artists.
For instance, if someone places an advertisement in the alt.smokers.cigars
newsgroup saying "Selling real Havana cigars for $10 a box", the denizens of
that newsgroup (suspecting that the cigars are fakes) might respond by
posting: "I'll give you 75 Quatloos and an expired cheeseburger coupon".
Quatloos are thus farcical units of currency which poke fun at those who make
ridiculous business offers. The term is particularly fitting for this site,
which reveals and discusses scams and frauds -- many of which are objectively
ridiculous.
This site educates you about common scams, frauds, and financial traps. This
site also cautions you about certain groups which may have engaged in
questionable conduct.

FINANCIAL SCAMS & TRAPS

"After years of trying to get rich with get-rich-quick schemes, I know I'm
going
to get rich with this scheme . . . and quick!" -- Homer Simpson
Not only are you interested in investing your Quatloos, but others are
interested in investing your Quatloos for you! Why, because they make their
Quatloos off of your Quatloos, of course. And herein lies an inherent
conflict-of-interest, which begins innocently enough but can quickly develop
into outright fraud.
Annuity Abuse -- What variable annuities are and how they can be good
investments for the average guy. But also why a variable annuity can be one
of the worst investments a high income or high net worth individual can make.
Bank Debenture Trading Program -- "$100,000 minimum, pays 50% profit every 30
days, to $12 Million per year with profit guaranteed." Yeah, and your check
will be delivered by the Easter Bunny himself. Sheer fraud.

NEW FOR APRIL 2000! -- Omega Trust & Trading Exhibit -- We examine perhaps
the longest running bank debenture scam, which has lasted more than seven
years and never paid a cent (and, yes, some idiots still believe in it).
Includes copies of the agreements used to scam people, actual audiotapes from
the promoter telling people that their money is on the way (in 1995), and
even the promoter's letter telling people that the program is over (which
they can't believe and so have simply ignored).
Nigerian Scam a/k/a 4-1-9 Scam -- Those wacky Nigerians are at it again! Help
them get $40 million out of their country and you will get a $12 million
commission, but don't spend the money just yet. Would you believe this scam
is the 3rd largest industry in Nigeria!?!

NEW FOR APRIL 2000! -- Quatloos! Cyber-Museum of Scams & Frauds -- Nigerian
Scam Letter Gallery -- A priceless collection of actual scam letters sent out
by scam artists masquerading as various relatives of the late General Abacha,
employees of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, officials of the
Nigerian Central Bank and much more! Help them get $30 million out of Nigeria
and you will be richly rewarded . . .
Sales Commissions and Loaded Investments -- Why sales commissions means
conflict-of-interest, and why you should avoid paying a sales load for
anything. And, the worst of the worst, fee based financial planners who
charge you a flat fee of assets under management and receive sales
commissions for putting you into loaded products.
Self-Liquidating Loans -- Borrow $500 million on Monday, and live on E-Z
Street on Tuesday. How attempting to get 9-figure loans means $99 profit to
hucksters.
Avoiding Investment Scams -- 10 simple questions you can ask to help keep you
from being defrauded.

LEGAL SCAMS & TRAPS
Once you've made your Quatloos, you have an interested in protecting them
now, and then later transferring them to your kids. And, sure enough, there
are lots of folks with impressive paper hanging on the wall who will tell you
they can do this -- for a fee. But there are idiots out there, as well as
folks who are looking to get their hands on your Quatloos.
Alaskan Trusts and Delaware Trusts -- A real asset protection tool, or a scam
to give the trust companies and banks in these states additional revenue?
Living Trusts -- Considers the Misuse and Abuse of one of the most heavily
marketed legal planning tools.

OFFSHORE SCAMS & TRAPS
Why keep your Quatloos here, where people can get at them, when you can move
your Quatloos to some offshore tax haven and use them to buy Pina Coladas,
condos and yachts! Unfortunately, most scam artists hang out in these Banana
Republics, looking for your Quatloos.
Costa Rica Property Scams -- Today you've bought it and gosh is it beautiful.
You make plans to retire there, but before your plane leaves the runway, the
squatters move in, and now your retirement dreams turn to nightmares.
Dominion of Melchizedek -- You can become an Ambassador of Melchizedek, join
their Bar Association, and even get a Banking License -- all in one stop! The
trouble is in finding Melchizedek (which, for those of you who are deficient
in geography, doesn't exist).
Global Prosperity Group / Investors International -- Criminal fraud
multi-level style.
Hiding Money Offshore -- One of the dumbest traps you can get yourself into,
but also the most common. Place your money with someone offshore, and hope
that they give it back. The problem: They take the money and run, and you
can't complain without being prosecuted for tax evasion. Or worse: They
extort even more money out of you under threat that they will turn you in for
tax evasion. This happens every year for hundreds of millions of dollars --
Would you like to be part of this scene?
Marc Harris Organisation -- Recent allegations of Offshore Alert against the
Marc Harris Organization of Panama have caused a considerable stir among
offshore practitioners.

COURT OPINION -- Offshore Alert and its reporter David Marchant have
prevailed in a lawsuit brought by the Marc Harris Organization for libel and
slander. The U.S. District Judge who heard the case essentially found that
Offshore Alert's allegations that the Marc Harris Organization engaged in
shoddy accounting practices and improper commingling of client assets, and in
promoting U.S. citizens to commit tax evasion, were true.
Download the Court's Judgment in Adobe PDF format
Offshore Books & Seminars -- You see them at B. Dalton and in the in-flight
magazines: They show beautiful palm trees, Learjets and exotic sports cars,
and promise to change your life. Will these books and seminars make you a
millionaire basking in the sun, or will your dream vacation be at Club Fed?
Offshore Personal / Private Banks -- Subtitle: "Open your own offshore
private bank and millions will start to walk into your life instantly!" Yeah,
right. Watch a 1/4 million dollar legal and accounting nightmare walk into
life instantly.
Private Offshore Insurance & Self-Insurance -- Subtitle: "Form your own
insurance company and pay everything to yourself as a deductible premium!"
Sequel: The IRS declares that the premium was not deductible in the first
place, and you pay substantial penalties and interest so that you have really
self-screwed up.
Unsecured Offshore Credit Cards -- For as little as a $200 processing charge,
you can get an unsecured offshore credit card with as much as a $5,000 credit
limit, but you better be prepared to wait a long, long, lllooonnnggg time for
your card to arrive.
PT -- We exposed the scam variously known as "Perpetual Travelers",
"Permanent Tourists" and "Prior Taxpayer" which plays on your anti-government
fears as a way to separate you and your money.

TAX SCAMS & TRAPS
Keeping one's Quatloos means minimizing one's taxes. Trouble is, where tax
minimization ends and tax evasion begins is often not clear. And then there
are few folks who are a few Plocks short of a full Koos, who have all sorts
of wacky reasons why you don't even have to pay taxes.
Anti-IRS Theories -- These theories argue that the 16th Amendment was not
properly ratified, that the Internal Revenue Code was not properly enacted,
that the Internal Revenue Service was not properly constituted or is acting
outside of its authorities, that "income" does not really mean "income", that
"income tax" is only assessable on residents of the District of Columbia and
Guam, and other such nonsense. But how can these theories help YOU if NO
court will recognize them? The answer is: They can't.
Tax Protestor Theories De-Bunked -- We show you why more than 20 popular tax
protestor theories are completely bogus.
Black Holes & UFOs -- Criminal tax evasive strategies pitched by tax lawyers,
whereby your money eventually "disappears" off of IRS radar screens and ends
up with your kids -- but both you and your kids may have trouble finding the
money yourself, especially while making an extended stay at Club Fed.
Constitutional Trusts a/k/a Pure Trusts -- Great things, so long as the IRS
and your creditors agree to litigate issues arising from these trusts before
a Posse Comitatus in a mobile home trailer somewhere. Otherwise, a voodoo
spell would be more effective protection.
Diplomatic & Consulate Titles -- These are being promoted as something which
will insulate you from U.S. taxes, but you'll be lucky to use them just to
get out of parking tickets.
Life Insurance To Pay Estate Taxes -- Buy enough insurance to pay off your
estate taxes and your net ahead! Maybe. But the only ones who you know will
be net ahead will be Uncle Sam, your insurance company, and your insurance
salesman. Your kids? Who knows. And just why is it that your insurance
salesman takes all those trips to Europe anyway?

MULTI-LEVEL MARKETING SCAMS
"Buy 1 for yourself and get the chance to sell your friends and family 5 and
get your downline started!" We examine the multi-level marketing industry,
where only the people who come up with the ideas make any money, and
everybody else is left unhappy, broke, and tired of reading scripts and
selling overpriced vitamins and similarly worthless products.

QUATLOOS! CYBER-MUSEUM OF SCAMS & FRAUDS
Our famous Cyber-Museum of Scams & Frauds is now open to the public! This
month we have on display three very special exhibits, which will help you
understand these particular scams in-depth. Our Cyber-Museum is as always
100% free and some of the best entertainment around. So, come on in, have a
cup of coffee and take your time browsing through these exhibits. More to
come!

* Nigerian Scam Letters -- Actual letters from Nigeria which were sent in
the hope and anticipation of conning somebody to invest a couple of hundred
thousand dollars to "help" the Nigerians move tens of millions of
(nonexistent) funds out the country.

* Tax Protestor Cases -- Actual U.S. court opinions which expose the
hilariously stupid theories the so-called tax protestors have actually tried
to argue with a straight face in court.

* Omega Trust & Trading Exhibit -- We examine perhaps the longest running
bank debenture scam, which has lasted more than seven years and never paid a
cent (and, yes, some idiots still believe in it). Includes copies of the
agreements used to scam people, actual audiotapes from the promoter telling
people that their money is on the way (in 1995), and even the promoter's
letter telling people that the program is over (which they can't believe and
so have simply ignored).
