Sadly, we are not only lacking leaders and philosophers of founding fathers
stature but we suffer from lack of a populace deserving of such honorable
persons.

I had occasion to take a young person to see "GLADIATOR" this weekend and was
not particularly looking forward to it, however, I was very glad that we
went. If you have the opportunity, I would recommend attending this motion
picture. It is about heroes and leading a principled life { and yes it is
about Roman gladiators- Marcus Aureulius et.al. . . . with the usual
historical "latitude" }. There is a particular moment in the script when the
relationship of the Roman Populace to the gladiators and emperors is
crystallized ... that exact same relationship exists today!
