May 24, 2000 marks the 10th anniversary of the car-bombing and attempted frame-up of Judi and Darryl Cherney while they were organizing Earth First!'s 1990 Redwood Summer nonviolent protests against corporate liquidation logging. This talk is Judi at her peak, revealing her wicked sense of humor and intellect while making an eloquent and powerful case. Judi died of cancer in 1997, but her estate and Darryl continue their suit against the FBI and Oakland Police. A trial date has finally been set for this landmark case: October 1, 2001. The activists of Headwaters Forest Defense vs. County of Humboldt won a stunning appellate victory which reinstates their case, grants them a new trial, and makes new case law limiting the use of force on nonviolent political demonstrators. The second file also features plaintiff Terri Compost, and they are interviewed on Working Assets Broadcasting. Both interview came just after the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals granted their appeal.
