This bill is expected to be voted on in the Banking Committee in less than two weeks from today - the week of June 5th! Your help is crucial to secure the votes that will ensure the amendments’ passage. Here are Senator Shelby’s proposed amendments: Medical Privacy Amendment: This amendment will require your financial institution to get your consent (opt-in) before they may obtain or receive individually identifiable health information about you from both affiliates and nonaffiliated third parties in deciding what financial product or service they will offer or provide to you. Freedom from Behavioral Profiling Amendment: This amendment is intended to stop financial institutions from constructing your psychological and behavioral profile-based on your most personal and detailed buying habits-without your prior knowledge and consent. You must opt-in to their program. These two privacy amendments will close large loopholes that exist in the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act passed last year.
