Anybody else remember the conversation heard on public television (still an
honest force in those days) from the member of some "retired generals
association" who as much as said they had seen to it that the hostage rescue
failed? I was astounded since we seemed to have wasted helicopters and
killed men to be sure to achieve Reagan's victory. That's when I began to
believe in the "Great Right-Wing Conspiracy." It was hardly necessary to
wait for the Republicans to share the current president's sex life with
anyone capable of watching the six o'clock news. It doesn't matter anyway.
They've quit trying to convince us. From now on we will be controlled by
