He got his students behind such slogans as "strength through discipline" and "strength through community". He intimated to the students that there was a hidden leader behind all this. He got the students saluting each other. It got to the point where students who were members started beating up students who were not. (Rather like the Straight Edge). When it began to get out of hand and had spread to the whole school, he called an assembly and showed the students who their leader was --a movie of Adolf Hitler. The teacher got fired for this and later, in the 80s, an after school special TV show was made of it.
