People like us get picked on by critics. We have to take great care to not
leave them even a tiny opening. It's hard. Even I screw up sometimes. This
is why I've been being so pushy about forensic evidence lately. It's
really important. I intend to discuss this in my next column. Stay tuned.
Cele Castillo said it was two and a half hours from San Salvador to
Guatamala City. I trust that, too, was a slip of the tongue.
As for Catherine Fitts, it sure was nice to finally hear somebody speak
out about HUD. It's about time. It's ground zero for social engineering in
this country. I would have liked to hear her take on HUD's role in
Redevelopement, Spatial Deconcentration and the fallout from the Kerner
Report.
I hadn't realized how hard the young Barry Seal had tried to make himself
look like Elvis. That alone was worth the ten hour ride.
You did a splendid job of organizing, perhaps too splended. Howzabout
making the next one a little bit shorter? By the time Peter Dale Scott got
up to speak, he and I both were exhausted. Maybe next time he could go on
first. Make him be the only speaker and just let him talk till he's tired.
I'd go. I'd even pay to get in. He's the best in the biz, a truly great
historian and activist. On the 21st he and Jonathan Marshall and Alexander
Cockburn are speaking in Oakland, CA. The whole thing is only going to be
two hours, including a reception. Now that's TOO short. But maybe a happy
medium could be reached.
