I thought the listserv readership would be interested in hearing about
APBnews.com's victory in the judicial financial disclosure reports case.
This was an important lawsuit regarding government openness.

The general public has essentially been under a misimpression that the
lawsuit ended in March 2000 when Justice Rehnquist reversed the position of
the Judicial Conference Subcommittee on Financial Disclosure to withhold the
reports.  However, although this was a highly significant development, the
Judicial Conference was still fighting APBnews.com's timely access to the
documents.

It was not until today that APBnews.com finally received copies of the
reports.  I am pleased to report that it has now begun to post them online.
So far the financial disclosure reports for the nine Supreme Court Justices
are available at:
