It really puzzles me. Nobody went after the CIA directors who happened to be
in place during the time that Ames was happily making a ton of money selling
everything to the Russians. I've not heard one word regarding the Chairman
of the Joint Chiefs who happened to be in place when that colonel found a
source of extra income. Why the big push for Richardson's scalp? They've
found horrendous leaks at the CIA, the State Department, and in practically
every other office in Washington, but the only outrage is directed at a man
who is thousands of miles from the place where a "suspected" security problem
exists, and there must be at least five levels between Richardson and the
