Odd, I found this to be the first stupid thing I've ever heard Nader say. It
really isn't a matter of "everybody did it." If for example, children do
something wrong, they all should be punished for it. It would be pretty
stupid for a parent to watch a ten year old and a twelve year old do
something wrong and do nothing, then the eight year old does the exact same
thing, and the parent goes into orbit, beats him senseless, call the police
and gets the local rag to run a story about how awful the child is.
Further, the parent polices every move, parses every sentence as long as it's
the eight year old, and regularly talks about how terrible the child is at
any point when anyone anywhere is listening. The ten year old and the
twelve year old live their lives with complete autonomy. We all know more
about what Clinton did than we really wanted to know. What we can't figure
out is why it was so awful when Clinton did it, and no problem at all for all
the rest. Prudy
