Anslinger, referred to in this article authored a book, which I read over 30 years ago, re the Mafia - for he said "as for the mafia, pull up one string of spagetti, and up comes the whole plate", or like the big can of worms....there they are - organized crime, feeding upon the weakness of others, and of course vice - the mob organized vice and contract murder.....the "get the picture" was like a guy coming into your store, and saying "God forbid, somebody should bomb this place..... and if they did not pay tribute to the mob lo and behold, the place was torched or bombed. Street people are often victims of alcoholism and drugs and have been known to murder for money pay for drugs; cocain users in 1930 had breakdowns in immune systems from sharing needless for use of cocaine. This article mentions Rockefeller and Hobson and the WCTU....before I was born my family half was working with WCTU and the other half, Catholic laughing their selves silly watching them. But, when alcohol was outlawed the mob made a mint....and when Roosevelt said "Let their be beer" and the moonshiners went out of business, Lucky Luciano used to donate huge amounts of money to the WCTU to Bring Back Prohibition - after all, it was all tax free and with Al Capone in the old days of the old Five Point Gang (Solomon's Star) you could be sure, the booze would not make you blind or poison you. So to each his own; but Anslinger was a brave man who spoke out - this is the first time I have seen his name in print, for over 30 years. He was a man of honor and integrity and boy, he knew his mob - nothing malicious about him, just wanted to see the laws enforced. So they got Al Capone on Income Tax Evasion....let us say he was put in a safe house, for the word was out, that Big Al was one of the Black Knights who worked for FDR personally....know in my hometown there was a beautiful house, a minature castle - and this beautiful lady lived in it - used to go to country club, but was shunned.....she wore ermine on her suits and mink coat...lived with her father. She was a former show girl in Chicago and Al Capone had been her lover; and Big Al buit that house for her, to live with her father - a telephone operator used to listen to their phone calls and that is how it got out, who was what to her....in those days, you just flicked a little key up, and you could listen in - that happened to Shirley Temple and when she used to fight with John Agar, it would be all over ......big ears of corn we have with us always.
