Evidence Mounts of Massive Election Fraud By Pat Buchanan
Reform Party may move to disqualify Buchanan from primary
(Washington, D.C.)--In a news conference today at the National Press Club
attended by all the major media, Reform Party leader Russ Verney and
Presidential candidate John Hagelin presented evidence for "massive fraud"
in
Pat Buchanan's Reform Party presidential primary bid. And national secretary
Jim Mangia said that he is reviewing the evidence in preparation for
possible
action by the Executive Committee.

An analysis suggests that 250,000 or more ineligible names were submitted by
the Buchanan campaign to receive primary ballots.

"Unfortunately, the evidence is mounting that the Buchanan campaign may have
committed widespread fraud in attempting to corrupt the primary process and
steal the Reform Party nomination," said Mangia, who connected to the news
conference by telephone.

According to primary rules, only three categories of voters are eligible to
receive Reform Party ballots:

registered Reform Party members;
people who signed petitions to place the Reform Party on state ballots;
registered voters from any political party who individually requested
ballots.

Last week it was revealed that Buchanan submitted a "concealed list" of
close
to 500,000 names to receive primary ballots. He refused to present his list
for independent verification, to validate whether the list is composed of
legitimate submissions. In response, the Executive Committee voted 7-2 to
force an audit of Buchanan's list.

Analysis of the first ten states suggests that at least 250,000 names do not
meet the above three qualifications.

"As the national officer primarily responsible for the fair flow of
information and the smooth running of our democratic procedures, I am
particularly concerned about the growing evidence presented today. It seems
like the question the Executive Committee will ask is, 'Who are these
250,000
Buchanan voters?' It is becoming clearer and clearer that Buchanan may have
submitted his long-term Republican donor base and other rented lists of
likely
voters--in flagrant violation of the primary rules," said Mangia.

"This time, Pat has gone too far," said Hagelin, who is in a close primary
race with Buchanan.

"The Reform Party was founded to end politics-as-usual. Voter fraud is
politics-worse-than-usual. It won't be tolerated in the Reform Party," said
Russ Verney, founding chairman of the Reform Party, who also connected by
phone. "If these charges are proven to be true, the only remedy will be to
disqualify Pat Buchanan." Verney was responsible for qualifying the Reform
Party for the ballot in all 50 states and running Ross Perot's campaign in
1996, when the party garnered $12.5 million in federal matching funds for
this
year's presidential election.

National and international media attending the press briefing included
NBC-TV,
CBS-TV, CNN, Fox National TV, ABC National Radio, National Public Radio,
Time
Magazine, the Washington Post, USA-TODAY, Associated Press, Gannett News
Service, 3 national Japanese newspapers, a major German newspaper, wire
services, and many others.
