The death of Young Jin Moon, 21, was ruled as a suicide in Reno, Nevada, but family and friends do not believe he killed himself and the police are conducting a full investigation. Moon, who had been married for two years and was about to start a college course in hotel management, had no apparent reason to take his life and did not leave a note. "It doesn't fit the character of the young man that I knew," said the Rev Phillip Schanker, vice president of the elder Moon's Family Federation for World Peace and Unification - formerly the Unification Church. Moon, who lived in Las Vegas, checked into Harrah's hotel in Reno on 27 October. His body was found the following morning. Deputy Police Chief Jim Weston said: "There's no sign of foul play and there doesn't seem to be anything in his background or some motivating factor for suicide." Moon, 79, founded the Unification Church, whose followers are popularly known as Moonies, in Korea in 1954. In the Eighties he was jailed for tax evasion, but has since built up a business empire estimated at $300 million, including the right-wing Washington Times newspaper.
