We must cease operating from a shame based attitude of saying, "But we're not crazy, really! Please listen to us." Soon enough our time will come. But we need to start taking the attitude of, "You people are not honest or credible enough to deal with us. Why should we give you our time, money or endorsement?" That's the only way to deal with Huffingtons, Soroses or any of these people.

David, thanks in part to your noble and persistent efforts I will be addressing The People's Convention and I will be taping more than 6 hours of segments at KPFK here in LA for broadcast around the time of the convention. Not everyone is brain dead and the financial plug to WTO is the illegal drug trade.

<<Scott Harshbarger: Reform Message Outlives Messengers >>

The below two posts offer documentation to support these knowledgeable researchers' contention that at least the one of the above mentioned key figures listed prominently among Shadow Conventions sponsors is in fact connected to the CIA drug smuggling history and coverup and is acting as a disinformation person on the DrugWar issue to protect the ongoing 50year CIA drug trade responsible for perhaps 80-90% of the illegal drugs coming into the US, ie, the very root problem stopping the end of the socalled bogus prohibitionist DrugWar.   Previous posts among this network also criticize Lindesmith Center head Ethan Nadelman for ignoring by intent this key "supply side" issue of the drug war, a "war" which cannot be ended unless details of this real reason for it is understood.

Since we are on the brink of major US involvement in the "next Vietnam war" in Colombia, it would be good for serious folks to investigate the info and suggested links below.

Almost sounds like the Shadow Conventions need a "Light Brigade" of street demonstrating protestors outside to bring this message to their events since they have so far ignored fair formal requests to include it.

Could this have anything to do with the complete lack of response from the Shadow Convention organizers to my last two weeks of emails urging them to invite Mike Ruppert to speak on this issue during their August 15th DrugWar Day at the Shadow Convention in Los Angeles?

Most people think the CIAdrugsmuggling claims are "half-baked" conspiracy theories kind of thing but it is the RESPONSIBILITY of the anti-drug-war activists and organizations to bring out the truth about this sinister "supply side" of the drugwar or they are not doing their jobs (at best) and are intentionally (at worst) or unintentionally supporting the problem instead of the solution by not doing so.

Perhaps the Peoples Convention will be a better venue to foster success in these efforts?

Bravo Mike Ruppert!!  You are like a laser guided missile.  After that little red dot appears on the target it is toast.

What you uncovered here is a PRESIDENTS FOREIGN INTELLIGENCE ADVISORY BOARD emanation to this Shadow Convention.  Those of you out there who feel there was a good faith investigation of the IRAN/CONTRA AFFAIR probably have difficulty remembering the testimony of Theodore Shackley or the appearance of a single member of the PIFIA board.  The buck stoped with them did it not for the oversight of all intelligence operations?

Now the Tyree case is one of those things that remain of high interest to this group --- that and seeing that no one shoots their mouth off about the US government's role as top narcotics trafficker in the world during these political rallies.  Apparently Harshbargar performed his job so well with Tyree that he is being employed in a second role as well.

This underscores what I have tried many times to make understood.  George Orwell knew so well that for an elite to control the masses they not only have to control the "official story" but they need to control the "alternatives" as well.

I call these "alternatives" Judas Goat Leaders.  We should focus our attention on Harshbargar and present this information to those others involved with this SHADOW CONVENTION who would not be supportive of such a drug cover up agenda.

It is our sacred duty to denounce all these conventions as fixed and faked.

 I guess no one has noticed that Scott Harshbarger is one of about six people (including Bush, Clinton and Ollie North) being sued by former Green Beret Bill Tyree. As the former Middlesex County DA and then Massachusetts Attorney General, Harsbarger deliberately suppressed exculpatory evidence that would probably have set Tyree free. That evidence would certainly have linked the CIA to Tyree's frame-up for the 1979 murder of his wife.Those curious about Harshbarger should go to www.copvcia.com and enter Harshbarger in the search engine.More suspicions about our new found messiahs...Mike Ruppert www.copvcia.com     www.suppressedwriters.com

Once while I was attending a scientific conference on the campus of PRINCETON UNIVERSITY during the Bo Gritz controversy many said I should make a point of looking up this Nadelman who was guru on heroin.  He acted bored when I told him I had recent footage of Khun Sa in his secret Tigar Camp.  I could not get him to accept the video tape as a present.  Nadelman is the "brains" of the DRUG POLICY FOUNDATION.  Has anyone else noticed that they have not done a damn thing?  DPF share the satelite up links and down links and TV studios of CIA front ACCURACY IN MEDIA who share the same building.

The Format

On the Sunday prior to the opening of each convention, we will hold a
kick-off session and rally.  The co-convening organizations will introduce
themselves and their involvement in the shadow conventions; a headline
speaker will inspire the crowd by emphasizing the importance of their
involvement in this event and the power they can wield as citizens; and
participants will enjoy live music, food and drink.

In the mornings and early afternoons of each of the subsequent three days,
we will hold public sessions on one of our three issues.  For each issue, we
will have a broad range of speakers - activists, academics, nationally known
spokespeople on each issue, such as Sen. John McCain, Rev. Jesse Jackson,
Sen. Russ Feingold, Sen. Paul Wellstone, Rep. Tom Campbell, Rep. Jesse
Jackson Jr., Rep. Jerrold Nadler, Rep. Chris Shays, Gov. Gary Johnson, Lewis
Lapham, Eugene Rivers, John DiIulio, Geoff Canada, Jonathon Kozol, Warren
Beatty, Bill Maher, Al Franken, Paul Krassner, Ron Silver and Harry
Shearer - and average citizens whose lives have been touched by the issue in
a deep, personal way.

Following these daily sessions, we will have live video streamed into the
shadow conventions from the major party conventions, and will have
additional speakers, celebrities and entertainers.  One theme we will
emphasize throughout the evenings is the effectiveness of satire and parody
as a tool of public advocacy.

These activities will all take place in the main hall.  In addition, we will
invite other citizen organizations to set up informational booths throughout
the convention venue, and we will hold small group sessions that will
provide participants with in-depth information and training on how they can
take positive action in their communities. There will also be activities
that further "shadow" the major party conventions (e.g. mock hospitality
suites).

Finally, to share the mood and substance of the shadow conventions with
people around the country who cannot attend in person, we will assemble a
large-scale and professional media operation, and make as much of the shadow
conventions as possible accessible to Internet users through cybercasting.

The Need For Drug Policy Reform:
A Response To The Failed War On Drugs

We believe that our current drug policies are doing more harm than good.
We, and our children, deserve better.

For decades federal, state and local governments have enacted and enforced
drug control laws that focus largely on criminalization and punishment.
Every year these laws become more punitive and more costly.  Every day
politicians endorse harsher drug war strategies.

What is the result?  U.N. agencies estimate the annual revenue generated by
the illegal drug industry at $400 billion, with perhaps one-quarter of that
in the United States.  The industry has empowered organized criminals,
corrupted governments at all levels, eroded community order, stimulated
violence, aided and abetted racial injustices, and distorted both economic
markets and moral values.  These are the consequences not of drug use per
se, but of decades of failed and futile drug war policies.

Drug war politics impede public health efforts to stem the spread of HIV,
hepatitis and other infectious diseases. Civil and other human rights are
violated, environmental assaults perpetrated, and prisons inundated with
hundreds of thousands of drug law violators.  Scarce resources better
expended on health, education and economic development are squandered on
ever more expensive interdiction efforts.  Realistic proposals to reduce
drug-related crime, disease and death are abandoned in favor of rhetorical
proposals to create a drug free America.

No society is, or can ever be, drug free.  Pursuing such an objective is not
just fruitless, but harmful insofar as it distorts priorities, insulates
current policies from critical examination and distracts us from more
realistic objectives.  The proper goal should be to reduce the harms
associated with both drug use and our prohibitionist policies.

Persisting in our current policies will only result in more drug abuse, more
empowerment of drug markets and criminals, and more disease and suffering.
Too often those who call for open debate, rigourous analysis of current
policies, and serious consideration of alternatives are accused of
"surrendering."  But the true surrender is when fear and inertia combine to
shut off debate, suppress critical analysis, and dismiss all alternatives to
current policies.

Drug policy reform is rapidly emerging as a new movement for political and
social justice in the United States.  We are judges who view the harsh and
inflexible drug laws as unconscionable.  We are doctors and health workers
who find our hands tied by senseless drug laws that do nothing to advance
the health of the citizenry.  We are parents and teachers who dare not speak
honestly to our teenagers about drugs lest we contradict official myths.  We
are hard working Americans fired from our jobs for having smoked a marijuana
joint on a weekend, and then failing a drug test.  We are people of color
who bear the brunt of the drug war's discriminatory policies and
enforcement.  We are ordinary citizens who do not believe the Bill of Rights
should be cast aside in deference to the drug war.  And we are the millions
of citizens with a mother or father, brother or sister, or son or daughter
now behind bars for having broken a drug law.

We do not believe that there is an ultimate solution to our drug problems,
but we do believe that there are steps that can and should be taken soon to
reduce the harms associated with both drug use and our failed policies.
These include:

Redirecting most government drug control resources from criminal justice and
interdiction to public health and education;

Supporting public health measures, notably syringe exchange and other harm
reduction programs, to reduce HIV/AIDS, hepatitis and other infectious
diseases;

Supporting effective, science-based drug education and ending support for
ineffective programs;

Making  methadone maintenance and other effective drug treatment more
accessible and available;

Removing obstacles to proper use of opioid and other medications for
treatment of pain and terminal disease;

Making marijuana legally available for medical purposes;

Curtailing drug testing not related to detecting impairment;

Repealing mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent drug offenses and
ending incarceration for simple drug possession;

Ending criminal penalties for marijuana, except those involving distribution
of drugs to children;

Ending asset forfeiture abuses;

Restoring constitutional protections against unreasonable searches and
seizures;

Ending invidious discrimination against people with past drug abuse problems
or offenses; and

Ending racially discriminatory drug policies and enforcement measures.

This statement of objectives and issues should not be regarded as
comprehensive, but rather as suggested components of a drug policy based not
upon fear, prejudice and punitive prohibitions but rather common sense,
science, public health and human rights.
