Saba, they might have Tales of Hoffman on video. It was a gorgeous film and
was issued right after Red Shoes. Once I saw the Turks do it in Ankara. It
is such a splendid opera to watch. The scene where the doll goes out of
control is one of opera's funniest moments. Anyway, the British film was
great with the ballet dancing the parts and the singers providing the music.
Ludmilla Tcherina in a very revealing body suit standing in a gondola
floating down the grand canal to the Bacarolle is quite a memory. Prudy
